I've seen a "well priced" 2003 Rockster with 27,000 miles on it. Looks like a good city commuter. Have any of you had one ? I'm 6'1" and it looks like I'm too big for it.

I'm 6'3" (almost) and I have an R1150R, with the Rockster handlebars.
You'll be just fine.

Had one as a loaner, and I'm three inches taller than you.....no problems with riding position although it took me an hour to find the right speed to keep the weight off my wrists.

Fun bike, nippy (steering angle a bit TIGHTER than gs?) and good flick flacking in and out of traffic queuing up for the Blackwall tunnel (3+ miles solid:blast) but zero weather protection.......as a loaner, enjoyed it, and I'd use one on a city commute, but not in rain or the cold :nono

They are cheap as chips though, and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we started to see people doing the same as those folk who smell of wee often do, in taking a standard airhead and making it into a 'gs g/s' clone.

I had one as a loaner on a couple of occasions. As you say, no weather protection. In fact, I found that trying to sustain 80 mph meant my helmet was trying to tear my head off. However, I also found it had, quite possibly, the most uncomfortable seat in the history of motorcycling. I felt, quite literally, that it had been designed more with ladies in mind and that those with testicles need not apply.

I really think these are a bargain, especially compared to the GS. I had a standard 1150R for a loaner one day and really enjoyed it. I'm 5'10" so it suited me well and the Rockster just basically has a different front end (from the 1100S which I also have) and lower bars. I've still got the idea of getting one at the back of my mind, I just can't justify two similar-ish road bikes.

Interesting replies, thanks for that. On the price front you guys are spot on, cheap as chips. It's a limited edition one from 2003 and the seller is asking €1200 so I assume a little wriggle room on the price. And yes the use would only be for city commuting. So I may go and view it.

There might be a race on LUKE. May the force be with you!!!

Did you talk to him?

Is it that bad? I didn't ring yet. €1200 what wrong with it? Unless it's been down the road? Or on fire? Not good either way!

:popcorn

curiouser and curiouser.
wonder if he'd swop for a K100 with wayyy more street cred? :augie
as if! :D

1200 is very cheap.

Keep in mind the Rockster's seat is slightly different than the standard R1150R.
It's stiffer, higher and a bit narrower. It's easier to move on top of it, but the standard R seat is more comfortable. They can be swapped.

It's sold. The bike was genuine. It's not been used for four years and he needed space in his storage. It sold for €2100 after a few interested parties bid it up. I was not one of them :augie.
