Rokker vs Roadskin

Received the Roadskins today, which is good service.

First impressions is that remind me quite a bit of the Rokker Rokkertech in terms of weight, quality, feel and look. Feel nice to the touch, look quality, but like the Rokkers are more ‘motorcycle/workwear trousers in the style of jeans’ than looking or feeling exactly like jeans - though tbf I'm comparing to what could be the most jean-like m/c jeans, the PMJ Tex/Deux.

It was immediately apparent that they’d be warm, too warm for summer but perfect for cooler autumn. Leg size was true to fit though the waist seemed a good inch over. I would have been inclined to keep them as autumn wear, in fact almost certainly would, but the fit doesn’t work for me at all – not at all slim fitting – really gappy at the top of the legs especially, so they could be a really good fit for those with rugby legs. Also a bit gappy on the arse, for me.

Quality item, and why someone wouldn't choose these over the Rokkers I can't think (even come in a similar quality bag compared to the pmj cheapo plastic item). Include the free gloves or discount, then even better value. Definitely a nice addition for those looking for an autumn pair of jeans and who are on the muscular side, and I'd go for them everyday over Rokker. The fit simply doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the update Yofi. I’m gutted that you reckon they’ll be too warm for summer use. Why is it you think that? Have they got any thick lining or is it just the weight of the denim/Kevlar (if that’s what it is….)? Or are you comparing them to a pair of mesh trousers for example when thinking of summer use?

Well, of course I haven't tested them, it's just my first impressions. But when you put them on you can feel the thickness as compared to something like the PMJ jeans, as well as some of the AA rated jeans I've tried. They just feel like they would be on the warm side (warmly snug on the lower legs than simply tightly snug), and I can see where some of the feedback has come from. You'd certainly want some mesh or lighter m/c jeans when the weather heats up.

Whilst the PMJs are also AAA rated, I fully expect the Rokkers and Roadskins have a far longer slide time, and I guess you can only achieve that with a certain level of thickness, whatever the current technology?

I think at the end of the day the only way with any jean is to try it on yourself. I know it's a right old faff returning them and making sure the return goes okay, which I why I rarely do I confess, but I don't want to lead you wrong either!

As said, I thought it was a very nice looking and feeling product, and well presented. And had the cut worked for me I would have kept them, as they'd definitely be a time and place in my calendar to wear them.

Just to update to say super service from Roadskin. They refunded my account on the same day that they received the return.

I have the Roadskins, they are excellent and my now go to jeans. AAA rated brilliance. They are great up to 25c, anything above, I'll be honest..Hot AF and switch back to vented textiles. The really do just look like jeans and you can wear them about without looking like you just stepped off a bike. They are pretty skinny in fit, armour is easy to remove, I guess the fit is a "safety" thing in case of a roll over or something???? Build quality and service is top notch , so much so I bought the hoody and some other bits.

Might give their updated (armour) hoodie a look, in fact will.

I've had a pair of Rokker Legends since May and ridden over 4000 miles in them and find them excellent. They are a great fit (for me anyway), slightly stretchy and very comfortable with unobtrusive armour. I can't fault them.
