Holy Moley.

Listening to this makes me think everyone since then just copied him. What a dude!!! Where's the statue?

I saw him twice at the Forum in London.

The first time was one of the best gigs I've been to.

He was pissed the second time and it was awful. Not just 'cos he was pissed, but knowing that in there was something terrible that had robbed us of another magical evening and, not long after, him of his life.

But that first gig was a memory worth cherishing.

His skill wasn't just limited to rock. Check his Unmilitary Twostep:

Many years ago Jimmy Hendrix was being interviewed by a journalist and was introduced as "The world's greatest rock guitarist" to which Hendrix replied " I'm sorry you must be getting me mixed up with Rory Gallagher"...:bow:bow:bow

I've liked RG since I was a teenager, being lucky enough to see him live at Colston Hall in Bristol when I was in 6th form.

I don't hold with your assertion though. RG has influenced many guitarists but saying everyone has copied him is something of an exaggeration.

Here's one of his later, more mellow tracks, Middle Name

and the one he did as an encore in his heyday

I saw Rory a fair few times at Mothers in Erdington,Birmingham, opening for a variety of Headliners. The Dad of a Schoolmate was a Publican and knew the Gaffer at Mothers,we saw a good number of Gigs from Backstage as 15/16 year olds. Later,i was doing an Engineering Apprenticeship and one of the Guys was a BIG RG fan. Well, named Patrick John McCauliffe,it weren't no surprise. During the early 70's Rory and his Band played regularly in the area, notably at Birmingham Town Hall,Civic Hall Wolverhampton and Birmingham Uni . Even now,i've always got a Rory CD in the Car. :guitarist

saw rory gallagher a few times at the winter gardens back in the seventies, he always seemed to come to bournemouth :)

TBH i wish i'd appreciated just how good he was at the time.

The same month I left school, a friend and I travelled down to Bardney (near Lincoln) for a four day rock festival, and Rory was billed for a single performance one evening. Apparently he enjoyed the reception he got so much that he went on again the next day for free (or that's what I remember).

He was brilliant both times.:clap :clap :clap

A couple of years later I had a ticket to see him play in Edinburgh, but I'd bought the ticket so far in advance that I managed to lose it before the performance. :blast :blast :blast

Found it the following week... :blast :blast :blast :blast :blast
