Looks like the 'Nicola' (has just told me she isn't a missus) and I will be heading over the channel for a week. We plan to arrive at Roscoff at 22:00 (plymouth crossing) on the 20th July and make our way to Calais for the 24th heading back to Dover then bimble back down to Devon.

Where should we look to stay on that first night as I'm sure anything close to the ferry will be ££. We won't be taking a tent so will try to B&B it all the way. If anyone has done the trip before (it's our first bike trip) your advice would be welcomed. All help appreciated i.e. places to stop, route to take, places to see etc.

Cheers!

It's not as cheap as B & B type accom, but you could do alot worse than Castelbeausite
for your first night.

It's just east along the coast from Roscoff in the stunning little town of Ploumanach near Perros Guirec.

You must go along this coast, whatever you do,as it's the Cote Granite Rose, the pink granite coast and is stunning.

I've stayed in the hotel a few times and the setting is stunning.

In general, hug the coast as much as possible at least from Roscoff to St Malo-there are some stunning coves and bays.

Ile de Brehat is beautiful.

I guess you won't have time, but it's a wonderfully peaceful place to stay.

We went a couple of years back and stayed at the Belle Vue shown arrowed :

Cancale is another lovely place to stay just east of St Malo.

Have stayed at La Mere Champlain

The restaurant underneath is probably my favourite in all of France.Best sole in the world !!

Cancale is here :

Best seafood in France.

Then you have the boringish bit around Mont St Michel until you get up to the Normandy Beaches etc.

A good place to stay up there is with Adrian Cox in Arromanches

I used to stay years back when he first opened but he has become very popular and I have a feeling that he normally only acceopts 2 nights or more these days.Worth a try though.

In general, places aren't as cheap as they used to be and 'B & B' accom isn't that easy to find sometimes.

Have a good trip.

Thanks for the tip. We will probably blat it down to that place you mentioned for the first night then back track the coast to get a view in the daytime.

Thanks for the effort and advice!
