Route 66 or?

Another alternative would be to fly into Washington DC, Hire a bike from Eagle Rider,

Ride down through the Smokey mountains etc, to Deals Gap in Tennessee, do the Tail of the Dragon for a couple of days, lots of nice rides around this area, then travel back up using the Blue Ridge Parkway,

We did this trip in September, about 2,000 miles, awesome, I'd love to do it again before my time runs out :rob

If you need any info please let me know, cheers Graham

A great option and some of the finest riding in the US.

I picked up a brill guide book in Stanfords. It's called Motorcycle journeys through north America by Dale Coyner - Whitehorse press. It's got about 15 multi day tours across the states and includes many of the suggestions in this thread and its not the usual rubbishy guide book stuff.

We are going in may and June from NY to LA and will use the guide book as , well, a guide picking and choosing from it as well the really really helpful hints and tips from Sgt Bilko when we met him a couple of weeks ago at ABW.

Sent from my iPhone with a smile :)

And then there's WV. While the roads aren't always in the greatest repair they are at least well marked.
