Currently at the show in Milan and thinking about the route back. Don't really want to retrace steps to Geneva through Mont Blanc and was thinking of north east through Stelvio as I've not ticked that one off. After that, was thinking north west across to Black Forest then back into France keeping the border with Belgium ect to the east.

Will be leaving Friday, forecast is snow over weekend at the peak, am I mad to consider it.....

I think you will find it closed and if it's not then the answer to your question is yes!

As you are sitting and thinking with your internet connection open..... Google 'Stelvio webcam'.... And let your thoughts run riot.

Ah, sod it, here's the link..... http://webcam.popso.it/cm/pages/ServeBLOB.php/L/IT/IDPagina/28#

You'll notice that they have pictures from yesterday (Ieri) and today (Oggi) Unless Italy gets very much closer to the sun before Friday, it's not looking too hopeful.

Having bumped into a Swiss guy last night it looks like like I'm heading west again. Stelvio may be open but Sveral others are closed already when he rode from Zurich yesterday morning. So, maybe next year, thanks for the replies;-)
