Bit of a last min trip, due to my bike being stolen and just getting the replacement.

Last year wife and I did out first trip which was uk , Riems , Mulhouse , Andermatt, Annecy, Dijon Remes and home over two weeks . We stayed in Andermatt and Annecy for 4 days each as a base.

This year plan so far is uk to Lille then pos Mets then Strasbourg and on to Zurich.

After that we are looking for suggestions ideally a location to stop for four or five days and use that as a base before heading back .

Any suggestions really appriciated .

Merano in the Italian Dolomites. Excellent roads, lovely city. It does get rather warm though!
Well located for Giau pass, a longish day out from there, but loads of choice really.

..or Vipiteno. Very pleasant. Excellent location. Roads in and out are not as busy, so therefore less chance of cooking in the biking gear..
Use the Timmelsjoch high alpine road to get in to Italy..

Val Gardena makes a lovely base but it takes a while to get out of that valley and into other areas of the Dolomites.

The NW corner of Austria is lovely. Voralberg & Tirol. There's a 95dB noise limit on some roads. A BMW Boxer is fine. The BMW S1000 series are over the limit. Egg, Imst, Landeck & Nauders would be good bases. Possible to cross the border into the Bavarian Alps on day trips.

Thanks , will take a look with her who is in charge tonight !!!

I have just stayed here Hotel Vallechiara
It’s just outside Bormio, little Italian Alpine town. Perfect for Stelvio but even better, in my opinion, Passo de Gavia.

Road up that Gavia road early one morning. Not a soul in sight. Beautiful views and peaceful.
I was staying in the little town below it and had no idea that Gavia was there or existed.

It is stunning. A storm came through the night before I did it, which at that altitude left a lot of snow. I couldn’t believe where I was and what I was seeing - quite the moment. Highest altitude battle took place there in WW1.
