Done it many times Castellane is the ideal base for a few nights as it’s right on the Route Napoleon

Martin can you send me your hotel recommendations for Castellane. Ta!
Trying to do it all via Logis and picking the nicer restaurants both south and back. Planning 9 full days again with 2 days to get to the start of the route and then more leisurely back north

We enjoyed it here.
Not logis though.

If you’re in the area it’s worth staying at Les Salles du Verdon. Not far from Castellane.
I use this hotel. Nice view from the terrace over the lake

Also a fantastic Italian restaurant down the street.

This place is good too although it looks as though the restaurant is closed for the moment

Martin and I have stayed there together twice. Restaurant is a bit too posh. We ate round the corner on both occasions. Plenty of choice in the main square.

Barcelonette is near Lac Serre Poncon, we did stay at The Grand Hotel that was on one of the squares and fairly nice.

Stayed at this Air bnb in Castallane a couple of years ago for three nights - lovely place down by the river.
We carried on down Route napoleon to Montecarlo then into Menton and did the RDGA south to north.
They even have our bikes in the Air bnb pics now.
Loved Castallane great place and lots of great routes from there.
