On our hire bikes we load up suggested routes and we don't have anything for Dublin to Cork. I would be grateful if anyone could suggest good biking roads between the two and anything that shouldn't be missed along the way. It doesn't need to be direct as long as the scenery is good and the roads are twisty.
Thanks in Advance.

the whole east coast is great, drop down from Dublin on the coast road through Bray towards Waterford, have a bite to eat in the town centre and then stop off a the crystal factory and then onwards through Midleton, stopping of course at the Jameson factory. After that, into Cork maybe via Blarney Castle (theres a nice B&B there) and an absolute must is Kinsale, just south of Cork, fantastic restaurants and Pubs : the best steak I ever had was in the Blue Haven. If you can stay at the Trident Hotel, an excellent pint of Guinness. If you have time nip over to Killarney and do a bit of the Ring of Kerry. Useful tip is that buses have to go anti clockwise so go in the oposite direction i.e, clockwise but watch out for traffic coming at you on your side of the road.

Have fun

The bones of a good route

N 81 past Baltinglass
R 726 to Carlow
N 9 & 10 to Kilkenny
N 76 to Clonmel
R 665 to Clogheen
R 668 (the Vee) to Lismore
N 72 to Tallow
R 627 to Midleton
N 25 to Cork

Variations as tastes dictate

A different approach will surely be needed if this is for non-GS's - you dont specify - but assuming a 'general' route for all bike types then I'd second GerryC's route; while the Carlow to Kilkenny bit on the N9 aint the most inspiring, the piece approaching Clonmel has some lovely twisties and isn't overly busy. Additionally, the next bit over The Vee and on towards Tallow is always great, especially if weather is good.

The route thru Wicklow on the N81 is good, but an alternative would be to come down from Portlaoise on the N80 and on into Carlow, a lovely 'main' road with some nice twisties. North of Portlaoise, I dont know too well, but its an opportunity to come over the Slieve Blooms, and thats always good!:aidan
