Route to Caen

Hi guys,
Heading on ferry to Santander for a few days in the Picos, but heading back through France to Caen for the ferry home. We are wondering if anyone has any advice, or routes from the western side of the Pyrenees back up north to Caen avoiding motorways whenever possible.

Looking at your picture i must say i am relieved you didn't recommend a route..........God knows where we'd have ended up !

if you gave people an idea of your time scale you might get a sensible answer. Don't bank on it though. There's potentially a lot of France to be seen between the Spanish border & Caen that you could spend a year exploring what is on offer or you could do the 750 miles in one quite long day.
