Hi a couple of my mates have just come back from Afganistan and I thought a couple of days R+R in or around Dalby Forest, Whitby (North Yorkshire) would be good does anybody have some good routes round Whitby, Dalby etc. Cheers :flag

A171 to Scarborough,A615 to Brid,A614 to Driffield, A166 incorporating Seaways Cafe at Fridaythorpe, head to Malton then pick up the B1257 to Helmsley

Two options from Helmsley
1) short route back via the A170 to Pickering then the A169 to Whitby

2) long route back via the B1257 (Helmsley TT) to Stokesley, A172 to Guisborough then A171 back to Whitby

I'd strongly recommend option 2 if you have time

Safe riding :thumb2

Whitby route

Thanks Big Nick I'm sure the boys will enjoy that. I just had a look on google maps :beerjug:

Any of the moors roads around Whitby, but recommend heading to Rosedale Chimney Bank and The Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge....enjoy.

Just head to the moors and follow your nose. What's the worst that could happen?

I love the road riding Blakey Ridge (Hutton-le-Hole to Castleton), but haven't tried the food at The Lion Inn.

I would recommend the Horseshoe Hotel in Egton Bridge http://www.egtonbridgehotel.co.uk/ although my favourite in the area(ish) is the Hambleton Inn at the top of Sutton Bank :thumb2

Was at the Lion on Friday, food is really nice, stake and mushroom pie!

A lot of N york moors amd Whitby area depends on what bikes your on and what roads you enjoy riding.
There is something for everyone and everybike.

If you've got Garmin I'd be more than happy to e,mail you some routes based on the above info.

Steve
