I fitted a pair of R1100RS footpegs to my 1100GS this evening.
I've always found the standard GS pegs a bit low and too far forward, the RS pegs are about 75mm higher and 75mm further back, plus I think they look a bit tidier, especially the brake lever.
Being BMW, everything was just a straighforward swap, only the metal brake pipe needed dressing into place as the master cylinder is now angled forwards.
I haven't fitted the LHS yet as one of the ball-joints on the gearlinkage needs re-spraying as there is a very slight amount of rust on it, I guess this part could be common to the 1150GS as well :D

Whats it like with carbs on it ?

Don't know yet! I've run the engine a few times in the workshop without problem, but I specified too much ignition advance in the new ignition unit.
That's now on it's way to England to be re-programmed with a different advance curve, then I can start setting-up everything properly.
The fuel lines are proving to be a bit awkward as I've a plastic tank so welding on a couple of threaded stubs to receive fuel taps is out of the question. I'm using gravity feed for simplicity.
I'm looking at taking the outlets from the circular fuel pump/filter access cover, then fitting inline fuel taps, but there ain't much room!
A couple more weeks should see everything sorted.

or buy a cheap steel tank for £50ish, or are they different?

I believe they're the same, but I've already got 2 plastic ones!
I have seen metal ones for sale, but they've always needed respraying, so plastic it will be, it won't be a problem later to change to metal.
I wish you hadn't mentioned the tank as Sod's Law will now come into effect and I will be inundated with offers of perfect condition, metal fuel tanks!
