A concern with all of the above control options is the difficulty with identifying certain vehicle modifications. This in turn leads to difficulties with enforcement. To overcome this we propose that a strong legal obligation be put on vehicle modifiers and the owners of modified vehicles to declare any vehicle modification to the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.

hope you are right when they bring in bike test, if they adopt all directives any real custom, streetfighter,trikes,sidecars,will be in trouble plus 1100s with 1150 front ends hid lights and all other bits of bling if the testers know what to look for

I dunno Brendan, I've a DRZ front end on my GS and a K1 final drive on the back, if they make modifying bikes without the involvement of an approved organisation illegal then it's serious.

How many people are qualified to assess the originality of components on a motorcycle in this country?

I wouldn't be overly worried if the test ends up anything like it is up here. As long as there is nothing hanging off, your tyres are in good condition and they can't see where you filed off "not for road use" from the exhaust, the bike will pass regardless of the amount of bling.

Even if your headlight is at the wrong height, they just tell you to sit back on the bike to raise it up, and even give you an extra push if that's not enough.

I've never had a bike fail and I've taken some real donkeys for MOT
