RT brake pads

A couple of questions relating to brake pads
I have a 90th anniversary RT1200
I know this will depend on riding styles but on average how many miles would one expect out of BMW original brake pads both front and rear?
Other than BMW main dealers where can you buy original BMW parts in particular brake pads?
How much would one expect to pay for BMW pads?
Do you have to fit BMW pads if you have BMW extended warranty?

Replaced mine several months ago before doing a big run to Eastern Europe. Around 14k miles? Still had a couple of thousand miles in them at a guess. I used Brembos or Ferodos from Motorworks. The extended warranty does not include consumables so why would it be affected, was my reasoning? And how would they know, if they were fitted correctly? At half the price of BM parts (never mind the labour ) I was happy to chance it.

The dealer told me any parts used in a service have to be BMW in order for the warranty to be valid.

Easy enough to change pads, as scotboxer says. You'll save a packet.

Don't worry too much about what type of pads you use as far as BMW warranty goes. The factory stoppers are fairly soft and give good feel but wear out more quickly than non genuine...
I think that whatever you end up choosing doesn't really matter because it is a "consumable" that BMW will wash its hands of anyway....

Ferodo or EBC cost about £30 a set i.e. £60 for a new set up front.

I like Ferodo pads as recommended by Steptoe - fitted a set to my R1150GS and will consider them for the new RS when needed.

Not easy to see if in fact the pads are the "same" as the BMW original one's with the clipped on backing shim, dosen't look like they are though.

Thank's for the advice Martyn, firstly being now retired I have plenty of time to waste and secondly they where not answering the phone at 8.00am this morning !!.

Ferodo or EBC cost about £30 a set i.e. £60 for a new set up front.

I like Ferodo pads as recommended by Steptoe - fitted a set to my R1150GS and will consider them for the new RS when needed.

I charge £20 per disc for front pads £16 for rears.
So that's £56 for a full bike set front & rear ferodo pads.
