Hi all on the forum of knowledge, I've recently added a 2009 r1200rt next to my 1100gs. A bit of a spur of the moment purchase as it was a nice looking always garaged bike 42k on the clock with all the bells an whistles of the time. Anyway has electronic suspension and the owner was showing me it moving up an down as you adjust the preload, he also showed me the setting for comfort, normal and sport anyway been riding it for the past week or too and toggling between the 3 modes I could not make.out any difference and it's quite a hard ride at the moment, that's when I did a quick net search and found all the problems with esa 1 units seizing, so I'm.assuming that's happened so seeking advice on best and cost effective companies that can do a refresh on the shocks and get them working right. Any advice appreciated cheers

Cheers dj for the info I'll give him a bell tomorrow and see what he has to say, I'm hopeing they do like an upgrade that will last a few more years over standard of the time 👍

All the options are on the website as to all the work they can do, and what gets changed.

Cheers Dj I saw that but wanted to get in contact to see what it included that actuators are not included they say they can usually be cleaned up and unstuck but if they do need replacing it's another £98+vat each so I'll prepare for the worst and hope for the best excellent place though thanks for the recommendation 👍

No problem. I've had both my shocks from the GS rebuilt by Lukasz, and they feel like new (as you'd expect them to).

Ive a 2007 R1200RT and I have never been able to notice the difference between Sport, Comfort mode etc

Although when at standstill I can change the setting from "one helmet" to "two helmets" and I can feel the suspension rise/fall

The rise and fall is just the preload adjustment on the rear shock, the esa also controls damping (comfort, normal an sport) with a little stepper motor in both the front and rear shock if these have failed you will feel no difference as I am at the moment tried my mates f800 and it's night an day as soon as you press the button.

Connect a GS911 to it . Get a good battery also . Do an adaptation and calibration

If anyone needs a new stepper motor, I have an unused shock with stepper from a 1200ST - I used the preload on my RT and have the base shock/spring left.

BMW don't sell the stepper separately - not sure if aftermarket ones exist.

PM if interested.

Cheers bean for the offer mine are going off to t tech suspension as recommended further up for a full refresh, they say a lot of the time the stepper motor just needes freeing up and lubing then ready to go again unless it's a well worn shock. Jetlock battery is new and does the preload no worries I'd imagine that would draw more Amps than the stepper motors. What's the adaptation you mention? I have motoscan app with remote access dongle it shows esa re calibration but just will not work (assuming because they are both broken)

I’m sure it’s called an adaptation.
So I had a similar issue with my RS . The suspension seemed locked in one position in terms of pre load . The handling was terrible . Got the GS911 on it and did all of the calibrations and adaptations. It sent an error initially but then the was a noise and it seemed to unfreeze its self . After that it did the full test and passed . The bike handles well again after that .

Just an update shocks are with lukasz at t-tech suspension pictures will show why my damping control was not working lol. Also springs I always thought could be tatty but still work but mine are shot and need replacing at least they will come back and work like new.
