I thought a new exhaust might be in order for the R1200RT. I don't NEED a new one, but since when was that of consequence? :D

Has anyone fitted alternative exhausts to the RT? If so which ones and with what results for performance (perceived or measured), economy, appearance, sound? Did you do just the silencer or the whole system? Did you change / need to change anything else to get the desired result?

And, importantly, was it worth it (given that I seem to be looking at £350+ for the silencer or £700+ for the full system).

Thanks for any experiences.

fitted a remus hexacone to my Rt. Sounds like a proper bike now and not a sowing machine. Not too loud until it gets above 5000 then it barks. No issues with number plate melting etc.

beware though, the noise is intoxicating which means that you find yourself going quicker to hear the bark:augie

Ditto ,but on a R1150RT .Only issue was that on long journey the noise was getting to much , I didn't bother with the mod on my 1200RT.
