Anyone out there got any experience with RT's ? A mate of mine was wanting to know how to clean up his brakes (ABS Brembo) so at lunch today I went with him and while I did mine on my GS he watched on and did his. Both bikes are 1999 1100 models.

When we got to the front brake on his we didn't seem able to remove the caliper away from the disk. The space between the wheel rim and the brake caliper just doesn't seem to allow it to be removed. There must be some trick to this - I can't believe you have to dismantel the whole front disk from the wheel to change the brake pads. It's so easy on the GS but the width of the RT wheel seems to hinder easy removal. Anyway we ran out of time but if anyone can advise I'd be much appreciated.

The caliper will come off, its a tight fit. Make sure the pads are well back,ie pistons in. Carefull of brake fluid coming out of the reservoir.

It's the same on the S and had me confused for a minute... gently push the calipers against the disks to slide the pistons back in enough to remove them.

When it comes to maintenance these new fangled beemers don't seem as well designed as the K's of the 80's :D

Adam :)
