Hi folks,

I promised I would leave the RT alone when it comes to modifications. This didn't last long, with the new screen and the crash bars...

Now I have decided that the giant, chrome plated monster of a silencer could benefit from being replaced. It would be good to get feedback on the various options people have gone for, weight saving, looks, sound etc. I think the standard system sounds pleasantly fruity and not after anything super noisy.

I specifically did not mention performance in my list of criteria as I am never convinced that a silencer makes a lot of difference these days, but I can be persuaded.

Many thanks,

Matt :)

I've got the Akra on mine Matt.

Looks WAY better IMHO and sounds nicer too. The dealer left the baffle out but I put it back and reckon it sounds better with than without - no earache either!

I don't need any performance improvement from the silencer because I've got the faster grey model...

;-)

Cheers dude. A tad pricey but they do look nice!

You have added a new screen and crash bars (added weight) now you want to change the silencer to save weight ?
The RT is a heavy bike but to spend £500 to save 5kg is :mmmm,

It is more about the look, but if I can offset some of the extra weight from the crash bars (the screen weighs the same) at the same time that is a bonus.

Thanks for your input, though. :)

I got my Remus Hexacone in polished stainless for under £400 from a French eBay seller with a 5 day delivery, I love it, quality kit, on a par with Akrapovic and it's bloody epic with the baffle removed.

I've refitted the baffle as it was a bit to epic for some early morning starts.

Weighs less, looks great so win win.

We are in danger of having twin bikes at this rate! :)

Cheers,
