Is there anywhere to pick up 12v near the headstock on the new RT like there was on the older models with the free can bus socket?

Looking for power for a Satnav.

Thanks

Doesn't the new RT come with a sat nav mount already fitted ?

Yes but only for the BMW Nav V if you want full functionality with the bike (audio with radio fitted and control from the wonderwheel), or the Garmin 660 fits the cradle and simply powers on.

Thanks chaps, I've not got the bike yet, hence my question as I'm not able to have a gander myself.

It is prepped for sat Nav but I can't yet afford to go Nav V so I'm just considering whether to try and mount my Montana somehow, obviously I'd need to pick up power for that.

Thanks again
Rich

Ive got a R1200RT LC, and the socket is directly behind the sat nav area.
Since I was fitting a new screen, I took the fairing panels off directly above and behind the Sat nav area and you will find the power socket cable tied to a bracket with the sat nav lead attached.
I disconnected this and routed the power supply along and through to the nearside speaker void, this way, I can easily gain access by removing the 2 screws of the speaker cover. This saves taking the whole screen and upper fairing panels off at a later stage.
Ive also connected a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket to the original BMW power socket, which I can pull out from a gap behind the little storage locker thing on the nearside.
Hope this helps.

I wonder what BMW will do when the Nav V/660 is obsolete which can't be long off now. Will Garmin make another unit compatible with the sat nag hole or will BMW change the fairing ?

My understanding is that the Nav V is made at the request of BMW, if that's the case while BMW are making bikes that accept the Nav V they won't be obsolete.
