RTW - Book Ideas ?

Actually, "Disgusting Foods on Five Continents" is a cracking idea for a TV show. Two minor downsides:

1. Bit hard to find how the bikes fit into this, and
2. You'd have to eat a lot of disgusting foodstuffs.

But you'd get your fizzog on the gogglebox, to quote NTNON.

Thanks for all your ideas. I finally leave for a few days in New York on Tuesday and will be re-patriated with the bike in Alaska on Friday. If you'd like to follow our advetures, we will be running a web/blogg site at "exploringrtw.com".

Regards,

Mike

...actually it was one of Scott's team who knew they were holding the team up......:D :D

It was Captain "soldier" Oates who said, "I'm just going outside, I may be gone a while".

Everyone assumed he was going for a dump. The story was that he'd wandered off in an act of heroic altruism to save his comrades.

This story was put about after the fact to save face after it was discovered that he had in reality been engaged in an act of Onanism in sub-zero temperatures with the inevitable result that his old man snapped off in his hand and he went ga-ga!

Seriously, just write because you want to and you should find that it writes itself.

I started a blog a while ago and have found that if you don't concentrate too much on one aspect, ie the bike but put in plenty of how you feel, what you see plus the seemingly unimportant little things about everyday life/routine, it allows people to live vicariously. People are interested in the small details, good and bad. It seems to be an element of human nature that we like to see how others live etc.

Writing it up also helps to fix your experiences in your memory.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the positve feedback I've had from people I've never met, from all over the world, who have stumbled over the blog.

There is still a big appetite out there for travel stories big or small. Witness the hits that ride reports get on this forum.
