Has any one tried, or is this a bad idea?:nenau

I was planning to put hard rubber under the handle bar riser and on the underside of the yoke with a "riser shaped washer". I hope to reduce vibration through the handle bars but keep a positive feel to the bars .

Don't like that idea, I think they would break up in the end.

But I can understand your intentions.

Some bikes use rubber mounted bars but I think that end weights maybe the way to go.

They dont have to be sticky out things. How about a large rawl bolt and clamp fitted inside of both ends of the bars. The weight should be equal if they are of the same make. Or B&Q do a nice line in premixed concrete, just mix with water and pour it in.

Or just rebuild the engine, get on and ride away and have a great time on your trip without worrying about problems that are not there. ;)

there shouldn't be significant vibration in the bars.
I'd check the engine mounting bolts, then the valve clearances, followed by a carb balance.
If there is vibration on the road, then I'd check wheel bearings and head bearings.

the bandit 1200 has rubber mounts in the top yoke section
, i used simaliir idea on my fz750 using a metal base washer sandwich with rubber fitting , found in works factory someware. this was enough to take vibration away , even with steel bar ends fitted.

Bike is fine, This one of those things that we should all look at. Lilith suffers from very mild white finger, and tennis elbow (to help this she has also had gel pads stitched into her gloves), But long journeys can still leave a niggle.
Anyone that rides a lot should consider this mod if it works, to save damaging there elbows and hands.

Thanks, bar ends and rubber:thumb
Noddy Raw plugs will work for me!:beerjug:

Carpal and Cubital ops did the trick for me:cool:

I think the rubber mount thing is for "buzzy" engines... 4's... BM's aint "buzzy" in any way:D Different vibe... man :smokeboun

End weights:thumb2 unless you mount decent hand protectors:(

This may be the answer for you, and with the stregnth of the pound against the dollar it looks a bargain! ($150 US).

Here is a quote from the guy making these ...

Just finished making a new top triple for the Airhead GS. It has a provision for rubber mounting the handlebars, which creates many options for using different types/diameters of bars at several heights. On my bike I am running a ProTaper Contour (1 1/8") ATV High bar with a BRP Sub mount. (This will allow for the future installation of a Scotts steering damper.) The triple mounts without any necessary modifications, and clears the fairing, tank etc. Since I took these pictures, I have re-installed all of the controls, and all cables were long enough without re-routing.

Price will be $150 (US) each.

Let me know if you have any questions,

My SR500 had rubber mounted bars and I don't remember vibrations, I guess that's where the idea came from .... But SR's defiantly not buzzy..

I've hear of various methods of eliminating vibes through handlebars but the best two I've come across are:-

1. Fill the bars with silicone.

or

2. Insert a pipe bender spring likeTHIS

Both are cheap and very effective remedies. :thumb2
