Rucksack rescue

A pair of German walkers got trapped on a ledge near Mt Brandon 3 weeks ago and were airlifted off. One dropped his rucksack and it lodged on an inaccessible ledge as circled.

We climbed up to the right and traversed across high up with 200 meters of rope.

It was a grand day.

The view was good.

We abbed down

Got the bag and had some fun while my bike rested in the shed,

The local lan owner reckoned we were the first men to step on that ledge

A German passport apparently but we gave the lot to the Gardai

Love the scenery, and hope the Cherman was "impressed" ?

He's home in Chermany on a reissued passport

Would have climbed up if dry rock but most of it was slimy snotty black rock; I am a wimp - next time I'll give you a call you butch beast

I just posted to test how photobucket works - it does. Too much steel in the old wrists (Bike accident of course) to be a real rock jock. As you say it's usually more serious - we went for the rucksack for the fun really it being a lovely day - usually don't recover gear.

I put up 50 mile on the push bike this morning after a long break from cycling but it hurt beautifully - you getting any cycling done?

Mayo mountain rescue recovering a body from the Devils Mother near Leenaune tonight - so the radio news tells me - RIP

. . doing only half your cycle mileage, Gerry. Got in some ski runs @ Kilternan the W/end. 1st run wobbly but soon CAW HUP ('ski legs back')
313 miles round trip drive is a bit severe tho'
