I have just bought one to fit on the 1150 adventure.

Those who have them installed, what have you stuck on them?

I can think of a few electrical devices but hey, just being nosey.

do these not make changing the air filter a bitch? i was going to make one for my 1100 as RR say theirs is 1150 only. It will have a centech and relay attached to it, but dont want to have to make all the wiring either longer or 'quick disconnectable' to allow removal of the filter lid... any ideas?

In the UK, filter changes or cleaning are infrequent (not very often), so not too difficult. you don't have to lift it much to remove the airfilter cover especially if you do not have a device at the back.
I am going to Velcro on devices.

I have 3 HID ballasts bigger than that tucked away on my gsa.

I have 2 slimline ballasts on mine tucked inside the beak, totally invisibly. Haven't seen a ballast that big since 1990 :D

Autocom is held on with velcro, and the mounting plate is only fixed with the two diagnostic plug screws, so not much of an inconvenience to access the filter.
The HID ballast was on the bike when I got it, and have toyed with the idea of renewing it, but haven't bothered to do anything about it yet.
