I believe ya matey, but fella, you know it's quality. A guy at the Bluebell said that one of his customers has a Rukka suit. Said it looks like something you'd cover the compost heap in (it's 15 years old  ) but it is still waterproof!!!

It's amazing how the suits really last for, I was with my Dad when he bought his BM suit from Pidcocks when I was 11, it's still going strong 15 years and 400K miles later, still keeping him dry even though once red it is now yellow!

I do think we all change for the sake of it more so than need, I'll see how my Rallye 2 is with the phase change stuff I picked up at the weekend.

Careful which Rukka suit you buy!

Some are designed to saturate the outer layer with a free standing inner waterproof layer,

whilst others are more like the BMW Steetguard II with XCR technology i.e. the outer layer does not allow the water through.

The downside of the freestanding waterproof layer is that if it rains you will need to have the waterproof inserts in or you will get wet

Also they are designed for different riding temp ranges, so if you ride all year round you will need a higher spec suit like the SRO or Armax

Bottom line is you will need to speak to a Rukka Rep for at least an hour to understand the range of products and which suits you best!

Oh and you need to think about base layers as well

Try here: www.biker-land.de much cheaper than UK
I bought my Rukka Jerez jacket and Unit pants from these fellas:

The price was less than 1/2 UK price even after postage, and they apologised for the delay of 2 weeks so threw in a Rukka goretex neck warmer thing worth £30...!!! The gear is always dry, looks way cooler than the Rallye2 which can look a bit :ymca (IMHO) i chose the Steel in black and silver. now it's :darth

Buy it, you'll love it.

Can anyone who owns a rukka jacket tell me if something is missing from the end of the inflator tube/pipe. I can inflate it but just releases the air.
Probably being thick. :nenau
Pic should be below. Thanks.

If that tube is up by the collar then Yep, you are missing a part, its a cap with a retaining strap and a valve, probably in the lining.

The photo you have shown looks like the exhaust on my jacket IE near the bottom of the jacket :nenau

I am thick (very!)

Yes, cracked it now. The pic is at the bottom of the jacket. Just found the inflator tube!! Dick!

In my defence I got it 2nd hand only recently so no fancy distructions, ahh well that should reduce the amount of tops I have been wearing for travelling to work.

Cheers Shep :clap

It might be worthwhile looking at the Halvarssons kit as well. Their safety jacket did very well in a Ride test and the price is cheaper than many of the Rukka jackets. They also do an alternative range of jackets which have the Outlast liners.

I purchased a Rukka Armacor jacket and trousers which on the first real downpour let in water at the elbow and crotch to the point when I got off the bike after 50 miles I could feeled the pooled water run down my legs and into my boots. Arms were soaked from the elbow to wrist which then filled my Goretex gloves.
Took it back to Infinity today and strangely enough met another biker with exactly the same problem.
Suffice to say it is now wending its way back to Finland for testing as they don't do it in the UK anymore. Getting it back in about 4 weeks allegedly.
Can't say I'm overly impressed given it cost over a grand for the pair

Although the Rukka gear looked okay (well some of it) the stand at the NEC was run by con men. They had a poster saying "Show Special - Save £397". I pointed out to him that they could not add up and there was £100 descrepancy to which he quetly admitted to me he knew. I siad that they should change the sign and he said only a few people had spotted it so he was going to leave it that way. The prices are nothing more than ridiculous. You can get a good jacket for a quarter of thier prices which is goretex or similar and doesn't leak.

The BMW gear is very good as is the KTM but that is a very bright Orange and blue eueueueueuegh.....

rukka jackets

Brought my current jacket 9 years ago, it's been through rain desert (very hot) death valley fallen off many times and it still is waterproof. Try buying an end of range jacket, last year at the NEC I brough a brand new jacket for £249.00. Infinity motor cycles were the people the man on the rukka stand sent me to infinity's. So far it's still haning in the wardrobe as my regular
(faded ) jacket is still going strong. Some BMW clad (newly clad) look mdownt heir noses but I know that my jacket has already outlasted many
BMW jackets. So, dont hesitate spend your money.

The protectors in my APR suit are a waffle style rubber matrix, i couldn't see how I could break one even if i wanted to, maybe if it was frozen then smashed :nenau
or possibly contaminated in some way by a solvent.

Shep

Apologies for the delay - only just noticed this.

Nope - no freezing / smashing or solvent abuse. Just defective armour. It was as if it had perished - it split at all the corners and the back protector had come apart where there is a join in the moulding. :spitfire :eek

We both have all Rukka gear (all but my 'Steel' jacket was specifically bought for our year off on the bike). When we checked Fiona's gear, hers was the same - badly split. We were in Canada at the time and sent photos of the armour to Rukka. To their credit they replaced all the armour and sent it to us while 'on the road'. Rukka Finland told us they knew about a problem with the armour and had changed the material used in the new stuff

While we were away my Steel jacket and both our A-tech trousers leaked and Fionas also split along a seam :eek. We had the trousers replaced FOC while we were away and I ended up having the jacket replaced when we got back (I upgraded it to A-Teck for the laminated waterproofing). We've also both just had the fasteners and zips repaired under warranty :eek :eek .

I would say that 99% of other people we've heard off seem very happy with their Rukka kit but as far as I'm concerned the only thing worth the money is the after sales service and warranty. Perhaps it isn't designed to do 30,000 miles in a year round North America? :nenau but for the price it damn well should be

My advice would be for anyone with Rukka kit to check your armour now before you need it (just in case)

My 2p

Simon
