Has anyone got the new Rukka Athos Jacket or for that matter any of the new jackets with the lockout zip?

I bought one in December, I love the jacket its really warm totally waterproof.....however....one snag the new lockout zip is instead of a traditional zip. Its like a zip lock bag really. But I find that its really stiff and takes real pull pressure to zip it up, I was just waiting for the zip part to snap off. Low and behold.....the F****er snapped off.

Anyone else had the same problem, is it a problem with the zip design or just my jacket?

Travelman, as I have a different Rukka jacket, I can't give you any feed-back on zippers, but your jacket came with a 5yr warranty!

Take it back to your shop with the receipt (keep a copy) and have the shop send it to Rukka who will fix it free of charge. Once Rukka receive your jacket they will send a loan jacket to the shop for you to wear while yours is being repaired.

In my experience Rukka's service has been exceptional.

Good luck,
Achim

likewise can only endorse the Rukka 5 year warranty, excellent take your jacket back they will sort it :)

I tried one on yesterday, and was a touch concerned that the Ziplock track pulled open from the bottom while I had it on. I re-sealed it from top to bottom again, like you say, very stiff, and it did it again.
I put it back on the hanger and did it up, then a gentle sideways tug and it pulled apart again. I think the Gobi has conventional zips so I'll look out for one of them.

Have one of these jackets and love it! I must admit that I was a little sceptical about the zipper, but have not experienced any of the difficulties doing it up or any of the popping open you describe.

I guess it's just like any conventional zipper that can pop open if not connected properly.

As for being stiff! now thats a whole different story!:pullface

I got onto the seller, theyre sending me a new zipper that I can slot on myself apparently. If the problem still exists they'll replace it.

Great service.

Cheers all

Hi guys....

....I've been looking at the Rukka Athos jacket with the zip...

....when trying it on, it would be worth mentioning that the lock out zip has a lock on the underside of the zip....so you engage the two sections, like a normal zip, then engage the lock on the underside, then pull it closed.

....this might explain why the zip came undone whilst trying it on? :nenau

Rukka stukka Lockout Zip The Answer?

I only found this out 2 days ago - the Rukka lockout zip needs LUBRICATING. My local Hein Gericke store has special lubricant pens which they give out with the Rukka jackets they sell. They aren't available to buy separately (at least I haven't managed to find a source yet.)

What a difference! I had already damaged my Athos jacket twice in 6 months trying to zip it up + the zip pull tab has snapped under the strain. (Zip snags and takes a bite out of the rubber.)

The guy in the store gave my zip the once-over and it is now gliding on ice!

I bought my jacket online from Germany - never got any lubricant - need to try and get it repaired under warranty now. (Apparently Rukka have a newer style zip which they will replace the old one with - will let you know.)

I have a armas jacket with a lock out zip. It came with a lubricating pen (must remember to use it) - so far so good.

Re zip separating (I assume you know about the lock lever you need to press once you have 1st connected the zip together?) / release when you take jack off?

mrs cookie has a jacket with the new ziplock thingy. she likes it, and i liked the lack of bulk on the one i tried. sticking with my 5 year old A-Tech at the moment.

never heard of the need for lube, so thanks for the tip.

I had to send my Arma S jacket back a few months ago as it was so stiff I ended up damaging it.

It came back gliding smoothly and works a treat now. I'll have to give Infinity a call in the morning and ask about these pens...

Rukka Lockout System

Hi Guys / Girls

I work in a motorcycle shop, and we have recently started selling the Rukka gear, (www.rukkasuperstore.com) sorry, i had to get that in! :D

After selling the stuff, and hearing all the positive feedback, i went and brought myself the Rukka Armas Suit (couldn't afford the Edison on my wages)

Rukka now supplies lockout lubricant with all of the jackets with the lockout system. If you have a Rukka jacket, we or any other Rukka dealer should be able to supply the lubricant FOC.

I've personally never had a problem with my Zip, and i find it actually works better than a conventional one like on the old Armax jacket, you just have to make sure the zip is engaged properly to prevent the seal from splitting when you're riding along... i've had a few customers who have had that problem, but once talking them through the action their problems have been sorted.

One mention the Gobi, I guess it is the same as the Kalahari, it has a conventional zipper, but the GoreTex is a loose liner, so it weights 200kg when it is wet....

So I bought a Armas as my spring/autumn suit.
Love the LockOut zipper, had one situation in the shop when I tried it on, but since I used it for 2 weeks I have no problem at all. Either closing it or that it opens during wearing.
Just pull it gentle and make sure the two sides is "lined up" before pulling.

I could imagine that some lubrication could be needed later in the season.
Does anyone know what the mentioned oil is, I mean is it a mineral based, silikone type or organic type?
I got a whole range of small bottles of oil, would like to avoid the range getting any bigger.... :mmmm
