Rukka Gloves difference?

http://www.rukka.com/motorsport/products#!gloves

Rather than a bod posting that they have a pair of Rukka Viriums and they are great, mate; followed by the next bod who says that his leaked, he returned them twice and still they leaked but then discovered that they didn't pour in water if he didn't tuck his jacket cuff into the gloves....followed by 20 bods telling you that one make is deffo better than the other.... Just Google each name one by one, read the descriptions and reviews on various websites and draw your own conclusions.....

Here's a nice start for you. The American motorcycle store Revzilla does lots of often quite good reviews, so I Googled (it really is a wonderful tool) 'Revzilla Argosuarus review' and... Bingo....

Here's Apollo:

Here's Imatra:

As a bikermate bonus, here's one not on your list, the R-Star 2-in-1:

And to complete your list, the same for the Virium glove, reviews by TranAm the UK wholesale importer:

Yes I use Revzilla reviews and have done for all the above. Useful but not real world I don't find... The same slogans being used over and over with the odd detail thrown in
It just seems to me the Virium, imatra and Argosaurus all seem to have very similar qualities. The only one that seems to be any good for winter is the imatra which has limited availability...

I was wondering if anyone had real world experience of their protective qualities both in an accident and against the elements.

Also looking at the alpinesars tech road gtx as its better priced, just wanted to see if people thought the Rukka selection was worth the investment?

I can recommend the Rukka 'Lobster claw' gloves. I have a pair I bought in a pre-summer sale in Stockholm at a very good discount.

Naff all in the way of armour or palm protection and you might think you look like a numpty. But, they work well in the warmth department and that's all that really matters.

Here's Anthony from Revzilla, again with his in-depth review to match the OP's clear expectations:

Not sure I agree with the warmth is all that matters bit? I'd put up with a cooler hand once I was happy I wasn't going to destroy my hands in a spill...

and before you go to FC Moto, try negotiating with a local shop. The likes of Tranam are taking the piss with their wholesale prices to dealers but it would be nice if we could keep local shops going so we have somewhere to try on boots, gloves & helmets. Three things where I find the fit varies even within the same brand, so I'm loathe to use mail order for them.

:agree regarding Tranam, though they're not the only greedy barstewards out there. A look on Biker land and bmw mottorad store is worth a punt before making any big purchase.

Completely useless to the OP. He wants:

....real world experience of their protective qualities both in an accident and against the elements.

Real world, not some glossy corporate catalogue, which is bound to say the whole world is great, mate.

I don't like muffs, and I use heated grips...

Ok so i get the muffs thing as i am the same but there is a half way house in the form of Bark Buster Blizzards Excellent bit of kit that go along way to warm hands without the twatishness of muffs

Have a look

Nah, the link to Rukka's website is in one of the opening posts. The details are near enough the same as the brochure.... But anyway, not at all 'Real world' enough for the OP. Have you fallen off in yours?

I recently got a pair of Rukka R stars, very warm and totally waterproof.

Don't even need heated grips when it's cold ..... yet.

You must have a better computer than mine. When I read the OP it said...

"Looking at a pair of winter gloves, or at least gloves that combined with silk gloves and heated grips will get me through winter and beyond...
Can anyone tell me the difference between some of the various "models" outside of price?
Imatra - Apollo - Virium - Argosaurus...
What I'm interested is knuckle and Palm hard protection and a visor wiper. Which a lot of winter gloves don't seem to have.
which would suit my needs best?
Interested in any opinions...

Then read on through his subsequent reply when he makes clear his real request, as he'd already been sent in the direction of Rukka's website which carries the same details as their brochure.

I was wondering if anyone had real world experience of their protective qualities both in an accident and against the elements.

So, have you (or anyone) ever 'real world' crashed in the Rukka gloves in question and what was the result...... And were your pinkies all toasty before it all went wrong?

There again, he's taken on the advice to try not to fall off, so he'll maybe now just settle for a full comparative 'real world' (not a load of manufacturer's blurb) review of the gloves' winter stopping capabilities. Do yours beat Jack Frost or are you short of a digit due to frostbite?

If the 'real world' replies could now embrace Alpinestars' offerings too, it would be great.

Here's what Iv learnt so far...

Not much!:blast although I do appreciate all the comments, very entertaining! (Wapping I wouldn't like to cross you :bash)

The only one with good insulation is the imatra... Though no one this side of the Atlantic seems to own a pair and they're too expensive just to take a chance on.

The r star is out because I don't like the dual chambered gloves and the lobster are out because I'm not a lobster, also neither of them have the protection I think is needed in a glove.

All the other Rukka I have mentioned in my earlier posts seem to be very similar.... why not make one of each type of glove needed by a biker at different times of the year and make it really good.

My local dealer in Cork have said they can get me a pair if alpinestars tech road gtx for €140 - roughly £100, and il get a discount on that on payment.

They combine the following, gortex, insulation, full leather, hard protection on knuckles and Palm, reinforced outer hand/Palm, and a visor wiper... They do seem to tick a lot of boxes (which I unfirtunateky think are necessary)

And yes any "real world" reviews would be gratefully appreciated

Unless someone could tell me the Rukkas are a different league?
