Hi,
I had the SRO suit for just over four years and used it most days all through the year.
Warmth wise - the jacket has a separate inflatable under jacket which will keep you warm for rides up to about an hour. If it gets very cold, and especially if you ride for longer, then I needed to use an electric vest/jacket to keep the heat up. Basically, the inflatable jacket will do a good job of maintaing your body temparature, but cant actually generate heat to protect your from sustained very cold temperatures.
When the liner is fully inflated, it does get a bit bulky whereas any decent electrically powered liner keeps it much warmer without feeling like you're wearing a fat suit.
It does get stuffy in the warm weather - there are two shoulder vents but nothing else.
The Armacor material is great, and I had lots of faith in its ability to keep me protected in an off.
I think that the pockets were designed to keep the jacket looking sleek, but would have preferred 'bellows' type pockets, or at least two lower pockets instead of having two internal chest and two external chest pockets. This means that items kept inside, like wallet and mobile phone, stack up against items kept in the outer pockets creating a bit of a bulge.
The elastic Goretex used on the storm collar and cuffs is a great idea and does a really good job of keeping the draughts out. (They also use the elastic Goretex on the Armacor jacket.)
I did have a couple of issues with waterproofing. Everything dies in the end though, and you do get the five year Goretex guarantee.
I tested this to the maximum a while ago when the arms started to leak during a 30 min downpour. It was tested by Goretex, but due to a shortage of jackets in my size, they couldnt provide me a replacement for several months. Instead they offered me a complete Armacor suit as a replacement for the SRO jacket - and I have been very happy with the suit so far. It is very similar to the SRO but only uses about 3/4 Armacor, but it has more pockets and a conventional liner.
There's a lot of Scotchlite reflectors used on the jacket as well so you are very conspicuous when headlights paint you etc.
They are now doing an Anatomical SRO suit as well. Even more expensive and suited more for the sports bike market rather than GS/Tourers.
The cheapest place to buy the from is
Biker Land in Germany. The minus point is that you wont be able to send it back for Guarantee work etc from a UK shop and get the loan jacket they then supply.
HTH,
Mike
