Does anybody have any experience with this garment. Everytime i have worn this product in the wet, it has leaked!! More specifically, the pockets. When i spoketo a rep at the NEC last year, he said that they are waterproof, BAR the pockets!! surely it is either waterproof or not. Am going to return to dealer tomorrow ( wed 18th ), and see what they say. Im NOT going to accept a replacement as surely another pair would do exactly the same, and i have been legally advised that if they do not perform as the company says they will, you are legally entitled to a refund. Keep you posted guys.........

I've had a pair for 3+ years and yes the pockets do leak, always have done and always will, there not waterproof, rukka said they weren't at the time of purchase so looks like you've been given duff info.:comfort

Dave, I was just thinking about buying a pair, if the pocket isn't waterproof does that mean your legs get wet or just the contents?

I have had a pair for a couple of years now - fabulous trousers - I don't keep anything in the pockets - but i've noticed that they do get a litle damp in a heavy downpour.

They have been 100% waterproof otherwise :thumb2

Worn mine in some crap weather over the last year or so and the only time they've leaked is once when I left them unzipped, when worn with my Marco jacket it seems to cover the pockets and stops water getting to them.
Another factor may have been it was in stop start riding constantly getting stuck at lights and having to put my feet down.

I bought the Hein Gerick Explorer two piece today, and the trouser pockets ARE waterproof, as are two of the ones on the jacket. There's even wee tabs sewn into the flap telling which ones are waterproof.

Goretex lined, with 5 year guarantee on waterproofing, with a 2 year guarantee on the workmanship of the outfit.

Currently on sale at £500 for the pair. I'm very impressed, and doubt the Rukka stuff is much better. In fact, I tried ona couple of Rukka jackets, and 'rejected' them as the cuffs only had zips, not velcro tabs to adjust the size.

I stand by to be corrected or dissapointed when my outfit fails on me in the next fortnight heading to Lake Garda and back!

Don't rely on HGs 2 years warranty as they played the 'wear and tear' card with my Master V jacket, they wanted another third of the price to exchange it !!!

May the flies of a thousand camels shit fly up thier arse :mad::mad:

This was taken from an earlier post of mine ... well last year ! That means I've been wearing Unit trousers 4 + years and not 3 as above:blast
Oh and the pockets still leak but it doesn't get through to your legs :)

Rukka .. for the non believers
I had to post this as It's not very often that I'm really impressed by any company.

I bought a Rukka jacket nearly 5 years ago, it has been worn nearly every day and has never leaked, just lost one button (last week), but that's not the reason for the post

I bought some Rukka trousers over 3.5 years ago and during one of my rides they leaked for the first time. They had been worn so much that I had more or less decided to replace them with another pair of Rukka's as I have been really impressed with what they had stood up to in the past. After a few months wearing the Stich (only bought last year for work), I decided to send them back to Rukka as I thought I've got nothing to lose. I took them to Motorcycle Essentials in Cannock, they sent them off, then a couple of days later they phoned to say they had a loan pair for me to use.

When I got to ME they handed over a brand new pair of trousers for me to borrow and said that it may take a couple of months to repair mine, I wasn't bothered as I had a new pair to ride around in

Today (a couple of months later) I went to pick up my repaired trousers only to find that Rukka have sent me a brand new pair of trousers to replace my 3.5 year old pair

I've always said that my Rukka stuff has been a good buy, and now Rukka doesn't seem expensive at all

10/10 Rukka

Been wearing Rukka for 15 years superb kit ... currently have the Unit pants and have no issue although i never keep anything in my trouser pockets after once being burnt by coins in my pocket whilst sliding down the road

Lesson learnt all in all the best all weather kit i have worn and i ride all year round :thumb2

thanks for all the feedback guys, i too have a rukka jacket and have no issues with it at all, but if they say that the garment ( trousers ), is waterproof, it either is or isnt. i also dont agree that if the pockets arent waterproof, dont put anything in them, as there is no point in supplying pockets. Anyway, this is just my humble opinion, and should know tomorrow what the outcome will be so see you then!!!!!

The pockets have zips and the zips are not waterproof and the Goretex waterproof layer is 'underneath' the pockets, so pockets are not waterproof.

Exactly. The trousers are waterproof but the pocket's aren't.

Most of the kit I've had (with the exception of Belstaff Explorer jackets) had at least some pockets that weren't waterproof.

What was wrong with it? As I understand, they're only guaranteeing the workmanship of the stuff, not that it won't wear out. I figure if it's been put together wrongly I'll find out in the first six months...

Over £800 quid and it lasts under two years of the odd weekend use

WHAT WAS RIGHT WITH IT!!

Sorry but when you spend that kind of money I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to last longer before the pocket starts to fray.

They then had to be told by trading standards that they were at fault in cutting the material off when they were told not to!!

BUT they are in their legal rights to charge for the period you've owned the item (in this case less than two years) They can then deduct a ch\arge for this period :blast

You end up with a very very expensive jacket that more than likely will last you another two years.......!!!!!!!!

Feck'em....If I ever hear that their shop is on fire I will go down with the biggest fan I can find and !!!!!!!!! :censor:

HG Master IV jacket 28 months old started to leak like a sieve, took it back because of the much vaunted 5 yrs goretex guarantee (the jacket had only had light usage), to be told that the HG guarantee is only 2 years it is Goretex's problem as they give the 5 yrs guarantee on thier fabric, here is their contact number.
Rang Goretex who said send your £350 jacket to us and we will see if it leaks, if it does we will cut it up to see why, if it is a manufacuring fault with the jacket and not the goretex well basically tough s**t.
If it is the goretex fabric we will give a refund based on the value of a 28 month old jacket (ie not replace it with new ).
The result is I will NEVER buy another HG jacket !!
Bought RUKKA because of their genuine 5 years guarantee.

I also own Rukka, never had a problem with it. Common sense would surely tell you that a zip is not waterproof unless covered by a storm proof flap :augie

I have just been lucky enough to be in a position to witness a bloke taking his Rukka jacket into the dealer at 6 years old, because a seam had started to go. Rukka have fixed it FREE OF CHARGE even though it is past it's warranty period by 1 year!!! Now thats service....RUKKA IS FOR WINNERS:rob

Right guys, the water ISNT coming through the zips. It is because the gore tex membrane does NOT cover the front of the pockets in these trousers, only the top ones have the full membrane. I dont know if i made myself clear, but apart from this problem i am pleased with the fit and finish of this kit, as i havent had an issue with the jacket. Its good to hear other peoples opinion though, thanks guys!!!

Are you saying you wanted to reject the whole suit because a pocket frayed?
What I AM saying is that I expect a jacket costing that much to last longer than 2 years or would you say I was asking to much.

Then to be told to pay a third of the price of a new jacket to replace a faulty one.....I find that unacceptable....Maybe you don't....I DO!

As for the trousers....At first I thought was good but with use I became aware of what I would call design faults.

Only one pocket in them :blast

The bib only attaches to the bottoms by three quarters leaving a gap at the middle and however trim you may think you are, there's always a part of your shirt showing.

If you detach the bib part the bottoms have Velcro tabs at the sides that ride up on to your skin....in other words useless without the bib but that's maybe down to personal choice and I could have lived with them.

I could go on but why the feck should I! The top and bottom of it (pun intended) is the disgusting service I received when a defect arose in the jacket with under two years of casual use, well within their guarantee period.
