I am considering a Rukka suit, unfortunately due to me being of an environmentally, compact size, a considerable amount of fabric needs to be recycled from the trousers! Rukka will only carry out this alteration on the basic design; therefore the waterproofing will not be a laminate similar to the jacket.

My question, does the original design for incorporating the Gortex layer make the trousers uncomfortable after wearing in rain? I am led to believe rather than the water running off the external fabric; the outer layer becomes soaked, with a consequent increase in weight.

I am wavering slightly; due to the cost I may have to do without hot meals for a week or two to help fund the purchase.

Hi , Rukka I believe supply trousers in different leg lengths for each model . Would a shorter length be appropriate ? Sorry don`t know the answer to your question .

I've the BM Savanna suit which has a separate gore-tex lining inside the outer fabric, which from your description is what I think Rukka is offering.

And it works ok, apart from when it starts to rain you think it's leaking as you can feel the cold stream of water  except it's not exactly the water that you can feel but the change in temperature :)

The BM kit doesn't seem to weigh too much extra when wet, and dries out fairly quickly, especially if it's blow dried above 30 mph. After all this I'm looking at getting another jacket / trousers combination for the colder / wetter weather as the separate gore-tex and jacket zips and poppers is a bit of the PITA.

Thank you for your replies.

The shorter leg length Rukka provide is still too long (sad but true).

I wear a Rukka with the layer on the inside, I've had it for over two years, personally I've never found it uncomfortable when wet. The only time you can feel a little chilly is in the summer when you haven't got the thermal lining in, but that's the same with any clothing. I really wouldn't let it put you off, it's really good stuff. :thumb2

I can't speak for Rukka, but I have a HG Gortex jacket/trousers. the Gortex is a separate lining inside and the 'outter' jacket does get completely sodden. Not really a problem when on the bike, but when you arrive and take it off, a large puddle will soon appear underneath it as the wet drains out. Not ideal when visiting the customers site for the first time in particular. Still bl**dly annoying at home. Take ages to dry too.

I could always use the emerging puddle coupled with my arrival to cover another accidental leaking of water:blush It's an age thing!!
