Rukka Warranty

Now that you have given up on Rukka and (presumably) have therefore given up on any future warranty, have the cuffs of your jacket attended to. Contact a reputable repair / alteration company, who’ll no doubt be able to do the job. This assumes the piling bothers you enough, to have it dealt with.

My own choice would be Hideout Leather, who provide a tip-top service.

Definitely will be looking at them for my next suit!

I bought a Rukka jacket and trousers about 10 years ago, they had an offer of 6 years warranty at the time. The trousers leaked in the crotch area the first weekend that they were worn. The dealer where I purchased them agreed to return them for inspection, but Rukka told them to send the trousers to Goretex as they offer a lifetime warranty. They came back after several weeks and Goretex reported that they were tested and there were no issues. I refused to take tham back, so the dealer sent them to Rukka. They also reported that there were no issues. I contacted the UK importer and they weren't interested. I then slated Rukka, Goretex and the dealer on social media. The importer asked the dealer to contact me and make me an offer, which was to let me buy the latest pair of trousers at the dealer cost price. I also refused the offer as I wanted either a full refund or my trousers made watertight. I got nowhere with this and I would never buy another Rukka suit again, they are overpriced and the warranty doesn't exist.

Do you have a heated seat by any chance? Gore-Tex works on a heat trasfer, so the warmer side pushes moisture through the membrane - if it's warmer outside it can push water through the membrane meaning if you have a hot ass then you can reverse the affects of gore-tex and water can come in that way. Every now and then if you stand up on your pegs to reduce the heat you produce from sitting down it should avoid this ever happening, and it doesn't to 99% of people but is possible and wouldn't technically be warranty. That's I'm assuming the answer to the problem anyways. The same thing happens with heated grips and gore-tex gloves. The heat reveses the problem and forces water into the gloves so you have to be careful using heated grips and gore-tex gloves for that reason. Revit make some GTX gloves which should stop this from hapenning but they're about the only ones. Rukka finally replied through their UK subsidiary TransAm. They are willing to repair but the garment will need to be sent to Finland through the dealer I bought it from. At least they have acknowledged.

Good result. Just for clarity, TransAm are not a subsidiary of Rukka. They are the UK importer, they supply to the retailers in the UK and are the conduit to Rukka. TransAm are also the importer for other brands, such as Daytona Boots, Schuberth Helmets and quite a few more. TransAm look after warranty claims, but ultimately they pass to the Manufacturer.

Good result, looks to me like TransAm have tried to filter rather than going straight to Rukka (Luhta). Just shows, you need to persevere.

The email went to Rukka and then back to TransAm to deal with no doubt.

Similar issue exists on many other jackets. I know of a guy who bought a top tier Richa jacket recently, had the same issue and it was deemed as wear and tear and not a warranty issue (poor design imho...toughened material ought to be used for all bike jacket cuffs). At least Rukka honoured the warranty/agreed to a repair. That's more than you can say for most suppliers. My Halvarssons jacket has worn considerably at the cuffs due to the same issue causing the hem to fray. I can't complain as I've worn it year round for the last 7 years. Just replaced it with a Rukka and not expecting it to be any more resilient. I do wear gloves over the sleeves in fine weather to avoid excessive cuff wear though.
