Hmm. Well got to work today in the pissing rain and my arms were wet at the elbow (well the inside of my arm at the elbow). It was worse on the left, which i suppose is the arm that gets more use on the bike adjusting visors etc. Never had this issue before as my Cosmic jacket has always been brilliant in the wet.

Would this be wear and tear or do Rukka cover the waterproof aspect of the jacket for 5 years? The jacket is 18 months old and done about 20k mileage.

When was the last time you washed and proofed the jacket. I was told to do it about every 6 months. If you register your Rukka gear you get 5+1 years warranty.

Also what gloves do you have and could the wet be tracking up from your gloves or where they meet the jacket?

i think you'll get a new one.

my Armas trews are pissing water in at the crotch and i've just checked and they are 6 years old, so i'll have to put my hand in my (wet) pocket :(

oh..... wasn't aware there was some washing and proofing to do? Although, it was returned for a load of warranty work over christmas and came back with mostly new zips and new scotch bright so the service is good. I'll give a call to the shop i bought it from.

The stuff I have comes in 2 small bottles, one with a blue lid and the other a green lid. Apparently one goes in the washing powder drawer and the other in the conditioner drawer. I haven't had mine long enough to use it but I will soon enough.

What model jacket is it?

No no vents on the arms, just the upper chest. It does also let a small amount of water in through the front zip onto my belly but its always done that. Its the double zip fastening rather than the single storm zip.

There's nothing binding you to prove that you did or didn't ever wash it. It's guaranteed, and that's it.

I've been using Cosmic for a year now and both trousers and jacket never let the water in (so far).
Like it has been mentioned 5+1 years warranty with loan jacket so I would call the shop and let them do the warranty job.

There is no way water can go up from the gloves as Cosmic has double Goretex sleeve cuffs. Inner goes into the gloves and outer outside of them like on the photo below:

I have the same on mine as well which is why i asked.

Washing the garment has nothing to do with it letting in water.

If Gortex gets dirty, the pores that let out sweat/persperation get clogged, and the material will lose it's breathe-ability.

Good luck.

It is well within its warranty at 18 months.

It shouldn't leak.

They (Rukka) have already done warranty work on it.

The clothing is expensive for a reason:

(1) It doesn't or shouldn't leak

(2) It enjoys Rukka's generous biker friendly guarantees

Get it replaced, at no cost.

It still doesn't hurt to look after your gear though.

You are absolutely right Bungy, I look after mine religiously because I need my kit to perform for both the commute and my down time. I was just pointing out that Rukka don't ask you to prove it when looking at a warranty claim.

Quite right too although they no longer make the Cosmic so you will have to have the replacement version which is called an Agitator or is it Alligator? or maybe Energizer? or some such bonkers name :D
