Heard from a reputable source that BMW are ending production of the 1150GS Adventure in late June/early July 2005

Mainly to make room for the production of all the new models and variants of the 1200 Boxer and K range............something had to give and looks like a natural bike to cull was the Adventure, as none of the 1150 components are used on the 1200 Boxers

To end this bike's incarnation............they are allegedly producing a 'special' run-out model in blue/white with ABS/Heated grips and engine bars etc, plus a few other little 'add-ons'.

Plus price will be lowered to encourage uptake of this 'run-out' model

Let's see what happens..............glad I've just got mine......if they're ending the production (even though I could have saved a few quid and bought a 'run-out' model.............but then I'd have had to suffer the ServoABS............swings & roundabouts)

rumours...

are often just that...

Speaking to a dealer who gave me the GS12 and GSA test rides yesterday, I asked about an end to Adventure production and he said they have confirmed production up to at least the end of this year.
Then again, shortly before that, he also said that dealers are often the last ones to find out about e.g. new models, range changes...:P

I visited several dealers over the last few weeks and the story was consistent - no official news but no post-June production shown on the computer.

I pick mine up Thursday - I ordered before my choice is limited to that ghastly BMW blue/white colour scheme

Add ons in Ireland will possibly be abs engine bars grips etc at no extra cost ! The base price of the bike will probably be €800 more. So a lot of extras for €800ish. I'm waiting till the special is announced to order.

There's a thread in Advrider about the 1200GSA, with some 'confirmation' from BMW.

I've gto a friend at BMW who's been feeding me dribs & drabs, but for sure it's going live mid next year, and probably press released end this year.

Start checking for spy photos...

Ideal timing. 2006 release, my bike will one year old. Year for new owners to sort out all the bugs. Buy in 2007 when warrenty runs out on mine. They might finally sort out the ABS by then too!

:boobies

Could buy a "runout" GSA

Might get a few extra goodies for less dosh - But as J-B says would have had to endure that God awful servo - yuk :barf :barf

Even the Yorkshireman in me, always on the lookout for a bargain wouldn't go back to servos, even to save money ;)

Back to simple Evo brakes for me - roll on June the 1st :D
