What are these lenses for… safety? Seen them mainly in a Lockets honey colour but also saw a blue one this week as well.

What he just said. Coloured front lights are illegal too, but hey, why should I care?

they are all illegal, you may only show white lights to the front, red lights to the rear and orange lights when changing direction front rear or side, when reversing a white light is permissible because that is now the direction of travel.
Coloured lights under the vehicle are also illegal.

Is anyone going to do anything? shouldn't think so as there are next to fuck all traffic now but its always useful to know what laws your breaking before you break them.

Oh and as stated it confirms to everyone that you are a complete Bellend

Don’t the R1250 GS indicator lights stay on as daylight running lights. Amber?

I dont know what regs you last checked, but Neons are legal and also yellow headlamps are legal for use within the UK

daylight running lights are supposed to be low wattage, and again white to front and red to rear. I cant remember it all, may be that if they indicate to the side they may count as side marker lights which may be amber, but to be strictly legal they would have to be clearly seen from the side.

I have an indicator module on my 1100GS which allows me to do it, but it dont make it legal, have a read for your self way to long to post it all here

Coloured lenses: horrible taste

Only rationale for yellow headlights in particular is lesser blinding of oncoming drivers. Physically proven by scientists. That yellow headlights were mandatory in France in the past was very wise and prudent actually. You could call it "advanced". Stupid they dropped that policy.

i love my coloured head light protector.

Presumably the lorry drivers with their huge lit neon sign inside the cab depicting their favourite brand of truck often with blue lights get away with it because it is inside, even though it’s clearly visible to other road users from the front.

I have a flouro yellow lens on my DRL. Although this maybe partly because I'm a knob, it's also partly for safety. My theory is that; when I'm filtering, or in heavy traffic, a standard white DRL blends in to all the other DRLs around me, the Yellow makes it stand out more, with the hope that all the other knobs in cars may just see me better. When following mates on other bikes they say it's more noticeable.

There isn't a law that says you can't have a coloured light at the front as long as it's not red and it doesn't distract. It's illegal to have any light that strobes. There are some obvious exceptions. but coloured DRL lens isn't one.

er not at all, and some do get tickets for it

well you can have a yellow one any other colour illegal, but yellow is for the benefit of oncoming drivers and not for vision of the rider, anyone deliberately cutting down on light from the headlight rather than use the maximum available is REALLY too stupid to be riding a motorcycle.

You can have any colour but red at the front. As long as it's not the main headlight.

mine stands out alot more than white, and can be seen just as far, it only has the coloured part of the protector over the DRL.

I thought it was compulsory to have spotlights festooned on the front of a GS each emitting at least a million lumens of light, and even more lumens if you actually ride at night.

Well, I was followed by a 21 reg R1250GS today and indeed, his front indicators at least were definitely on!
