Russian/Georgian border for Russian/Georgian citizens only?

We are heading around the Black Sea this Sunday. Estonian Embassy in Georgia told that Russia/Georgia border is open for Russian/Georgian/Armenian nationalities only - no EU citizens will be allowed to cross. They were not 100% sure though... Anyone has more info re this?

markeikner,Kazbegi-Verhni Lars border is only open for trucks,i think.it s better to use Turkey border for Georgia,or go check the ferries r vessels;like crimea-trabzon.

checked on site - it is for CIS countries only - no matter truck or bike. we were sent back from the border and had to take ferry from poti, georgia to novorossyisk, russia. 400 km in 5 days including 11 h customs clearing. do not recommend.

Zebb and myself were thinking of the Crimea (forget the port) to Poti route for next years sojourn. Any advice?

I guess you should go CCW and skip Russia. Some 4000 km, I guess. Nice ride though...
