Hey folks, i have a late 07 1200 adv that is starting to show a lot or corrosion on the black frame of the bike. Does anyone have any experience of bringing this issue to BMW? I will post a few pics soon

Aye paint is thinner than a thin thing BMVV will say you didn't clean it and tell you to feck off

Folks have done pretty well getting front engine covers and rocker covers replaced due to corrosion. Things like hubs, gear boxes and swing arms are more problematical as its such a hassle to change. Dunno about frames as this would be a major operation to replace - worth chancing your arm though if its still in warranty.

Was kind of hoping the black frame paint on an adventure would be a bit tougher than the silver paint on the standard GS

hey ho, wheres me tin of waxoyl

I noticed rust and missing paint on various parts of my GSA the day after picking it up new 3 weeks ago, went back to dealer and got a can't be arsed reply, they'll take photo's! I've taken my bike, servicing and money to another dealer.Shitty quality, shitty service, shitty aftersales,f**kin' great bike!

On a previous post, which at the moment I am too lazy to go looking for, the issue was about corrosion on the front of the engine cases. It was caused by that foam sound deadener capturing water and grit.
I have tried to add an image but I'm afraid it didn't work. Sorry.
BMW replaced it without any fuss whatsoever, and that was right at the end of the extra year of the extended warranty period. Me thinks that if they spent a little more on being more careful they would not be paying out on repairs. My guess is that the "bean counters" have the company by the nuts, it should be the engineers!
As my old grandpappy used to say:
"Do it right the first time and you don't have to do it again."
