Ryedale Rally - Final instructions

Do not worry - all the final instructions went into 1st class post at lunchtime yesterday (tuesday). Any problems, phone the number on the regs.
All the bikes over 600cc set off at the front of the field to give a decent run at the course - even if the weather is bad.
See you all next week.......
P.S. Still a few places left for late entries.........

Hey folkbiker, may I ask a couple of questions, I take it you are one of the organisers? :)

Where's the camping field? The final instructions don't say (either that or I'm blind :D )

Are supporters allowed to the start/finish area in Cropton Forest?

I understand the restrictions on driving into Langdale Forest, but is there any scope for spectators on foot in that area? If so, could you give an indication of roughly where the course goes? Or is this just a total no-go, in which case I shall advise them to find something else to amuse themselves with during the day :)

Thanks very much.

Loz, sorry to here about your torn calf muscle maybe we see you at the cambrian rally in october :thumb
Got the final instructions through this morning :clap l'm no 23, andy,s no 31 and paul,s no 15
see you all there
mark
p.s. mouse be careful riding Clare's F650 ;)

Ryedale Rally

Yes, I am Clerk of the Course!!!

The camping field is at the start/finish (I think the final instructions refer to "start/finish/camping"!).
Supporters are very welcome in this area and will find portaloos and good quality refreshments there (as well as being welcome at the buffet on saturday evening).
We are required to remind the public that it is NOT a spectator sport however there are footpaths within Langdale which will be open on that day. Talk to us on the 10th for advice about car parking near Langdale.
The area nevertheless is full of other things to do such as Whitby, York, Flamingoland, Eden Camp and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway......

Hope that answers your queries.

Ahh right, I spoke to you this morning actually, about my change of bike :)

You're right they do, I had misinterpreted it, thanks for clarifying!

That'd be great, will speak to you about it on the day :)

Thanks very much.

Birkenhead to Cropton

HI ya mouse , how long are you giving yourself to get from Birkenhead to the start of the Ryedale , we are getting in to Birkenhead about 0600 on Saturday morning and will have about 3 hour's to get there , That should be enough ? we are travelling in 2 bans there is about six of us and plan to camp in the field that night , ps don't go drowning that bike on the the young lass , is the gs12 still off the road

Hi Phil, our GPS says its three hours from Birkenhead to the rally so I think you'll get there for nine no problem.

The 1200 is still ill: annoyingly the part we're waiting for will arrive about two days after the Ryedale! Rik knows that if the 650 goes the way of the 1200 he'll be put in a sack weighted with bricks and thrown off a canal bridge :)

Could anybody tell me where the rally is, as I would like to come along and have a look?

I have had a look at the map and can see Pickering, Crompton and Dalby forest! Where is the start / finish

I will be on an 1150 GSA.

Thanks.

Ryedale start/finish

The ACU rules require us to remind you that it is not a spectator sport and you would attend at your own risk......
You would however be most welcome at the start/finish field and could even take on a Marshal role if you wanted (or help make the tea in Langdale forest!).
The grid reference for the start is SE78001-93803 and the route will be signposted from Pickering.
First riders will be away at 10.30 on Saturday and 9.30 on Sunday.
Hope to see you there & if you like what you see, maybe you will be tempted to enter next year!!!

Great event, my thanks to all the people involved. lovely grub :spitfire , cold beer  and fantastic weather  , spot on :thumb

Shame l did not finish but that was due to my inability to spot the arrows (going to fast) and fix a puncture :nenau

anyone know were we can see the results online ?

I didn't finish the rally either, due to a sprained ankle after I caught my foot on a stump or something. Was still a very enjoyable weekend though!

Bob Mullins normally posts the results on his web site - www.enduronews.com

Click on results tab on the top of the page. There should also be a links page that should link onto YEC page - hope this helps

Ryedale news & results

Results have today been sent to www.enduronews.com and will no doubt be published very soon.
It was a very safe and successful event, with most riders finsihing the course dusty but wearing big smiles.
Special mention to Philip Gunn on his BMW HP2 who was 5th overall and gave an awe inspiring display of riding to the YEC Marshals. He took "Best Service Rider" award. Ian Barnard achieved the "Spirit of the Rally" award for his stamina and determination. He rode to North Yorkshire on Friday evening from his home in Somerset on his BMW1150GS. He completed 130 arduous moor and forest miles on Saturday and planned only to attempt 2 laps on Sunday in order to save some energy for his long ride back. He was enjoying himself so much however, he completed the 120 mile Sunday course then had to face several hundred miles in the hot traffic to get home - great dedication to his sport!
Sorry that Richard Griffin on his partner's GS650 twisted his foot and retired just before the final Sunday lap.
Thanks to all the Big Trail Bikers who supported the event - see you next year???
