Ryedale Rally 3/4th July

bam bam how you both???????????????? eventfull week end !

hi all nice to put some faces to names over the weekend, pleasure to meet you all was a great weekend and a real challenge for me. lil hope you're ok seeing you fly over the edge of that bank was a real heartstopper!
cheers all

Wheras I'm sure Bam Bam or Lilith will be along shortly to give the full version of events, I can give you an quick overview.

Bam Bam started the weekend with a bad back. Helped enormously by very hard, dry conditions, he didn't make the start on Sunday. Last seen (by Denise and I) walking very slowly, carefully and deliberately towards the "facilities".

I saw Lilith at the end of the test stages on Saturday, she was "shattered" but happy, and ready for the ride back to the camp site. On my way back, I stopped to tow one of the BMW's (Mavis Cruet?) the last couple of miles as he had run out of fuel. We passed a number of riders and marshalls at the side of the road in a small copse, who waved us on. Apparently Lilith was the reason! :eek She was also being towed back, but had managed to leave the road and dropped down a bank, beating herself up somewhat in the process.
Bruised rather than broken was the prognosis, but she didn't start Sunday either.

yeah lil ran out of petrol on the gravel part of the last liason back to the camp, i leant her and moly (i think) a tow line and off they went, eventually caught up with them on the road after the tow line had been released, they hooked up again but a few metres later a wobble set in which sent lil and bike off to the left edge of the road and over the bank to a steep drop of about 20 feet, lil in a heap at the bottom on one side of tree, dr on the other side of the tree in a foot or so of water in a stream. lil was shaken up and bruised but otherwise ok dr needed 4 of us to lift up the opposite side of the stream over a bank and back across the stream to a less steep slope and the road. after a check out by the army medics and some fuel for the dr lil rode back to the camp .... one tough cookie:bow

hey if you had said it had run out of petrol i could have given you some !
I stopped but i thought you said it was boken down

what a stunning rally

I have to say the whole event was very well organised.

A mixture of dusty tracks and nadgery forest trails, 150 miles.

I learnt a few things but in particular 30 litres is one heavy tank ! The tank is coming off for the rest of the rallies.

I woke up sunday morning and felt like i had been run over by a truck, so decided to drive home after a leasurly breakfast.

Yes that's about it in a nut shell. Other than the bank was about 15 foot with a brooke, last 3 foot sheer into a rock pool at the base of a small water fall she missed the trees on the way down to the water:eek: I had a visit to the Chiropractor, Lilith has had the day off :angel still got bruised ribs and shoulder.
A big big thank you to Molly for his help :clap
All the Marshals and riders for their help at the scene, the campsite nurse who was rushed to Lilith by the Army lads :bow Now fuelled up with Mollys help, Lilith then rode the bike back to camp :bow
And of cause George E, who was just taking me to Lilith as news of the crash filtered through to the camp area :thumb

Even though our weekend plan, for world domination failed we both had a wonderful time:ronno:pullface
Thank you to all good one YEC

Erm, why not just put in enough fuel for the day/lap, whichever you prefer?
My baptism with the 640 was in the Ryedale 2008, when I too realised that putting the full 28 litres in was a huge mistake! First problem was getting the effing thing into the trailer before the event! Since then I have worked out how much I need for the day, on the theory that the load will get lighter as the day wears on. Approx 1 litre per 10 miles is my estimate, and works most of the time. :augie

good to hear that all is ok my god that girls tough ! rode it back aswell ,neat rider as to boot see you soon /i still got your goggles /thanks

Just to let you all know I am back riding today. The fazer and not the DR.... I have to fix that first. It does deserve being fixed as it survived a drowning, I know it only survived as it was not running at the time.

I promised to always remember petrol in the future :augie

Thanks again to all.
