S1000XR

I wasn't a big fan of white on the XR, as it looked too "bland", but that rim tape sets it off nicely.:thumb

Thats the colour they come in for the white one and the reason or one of the reasons I have not ordered any

Thank the fuck for that ... they look hideous, spoil the 'bike completely, especially the feckin' top box :rob

A bike like this needs a small pack on the pillion, toothpaste, toothbrush, change of underpants, medication ... and gooooooooooooooooooooo :D

Here here. Kreiga all the way on this bike, for me.:thumb

Unless you're going away for a month, you don't need all that luggage. Even Wappers only takes a small bag on his S1000, then washes his grundies out every night in his hotel!:D

Lightweight kecks, pants'n shirts that wash'n dry as you go, bank card'n 'phone is all you need :D

:beerjug:

So when you buying one?

Probably never, I just don't have the self control to own one :D

We've just spunked 15k on my wife's car, which is more important as it keeps her and the little un safe and carries out the important stuff like earning money. My 1150 GSA is still a brilliant machine too and keeps me slow (ish).

An 800 version would be more to my taste as long as the chassis and electronics were the same.

The speed of it is phenomenal, but thrashing it takes you to jail territory far too quickly. It really is the chassis and electronics which impress me most of all.

Yep
Thats the way I'm going too

Yep apparently when we nip back up to Scotland this September, Ricks hard core minimalistic approach means flip flops tea shirt and shorts for riding, a US10 with a spare pair of budgie smugglers a tooth pick and credit card.

No doubt he will fill my panniers with the kit he can't carry whilst he poses with the new toy lol.

Rumbled ! :beerjug:

Am I understanding this correctly, BMW don't/won't offer colour coded luggage for 1 of the 2 colours the XR comes in, you can get red as an option but not white?

If so, I personally think that ridiculous, you should at least be given the option of colour coded luggage which matches your bike from the manufacturer, even if that is an extra cost option, not be forced into taking some random generic colour.

Yep I absolutely agree, but I need luggage and have only the option available, so I can either stay with the titanium or get them painted white, to be fair it does look better in the flesh rather than a photo.

Just reading Bike mag test and it says the XR at 85mph is showing 6200 rpm in 6th and it feels like it's in 4th.
That would stop me buying one straight away ! No good for touring as that would do my head in !!

i read that too. end of, for me.

My RT was in for service, and I had 2 hrs on a brand new, fully optioned XR today.

The one I rode in Italy must have had a suspension fault, as this one was very compliant in road mode.

The engine/drivetrain/QS is superb. Up and down shifts are perfect, whether the engine is loaded or not.

It doesn't pull quite as hard as my S1000R, but it has a lovely soundtrack - particularly in terms of the induction roar.

As others have said, the fuelling is perfect.

I didn't find the vibes particularly bad.

It is too high though and has looks only a mother would love...

If I was buying one, I would get the low version for sure - it is 50mm lower.
