Did the deal on one today. Comes with the three keys, code card and a bill for £1200 last year for valves, belts etc. Hoping that will minimise potential headaches and expense going forward!
They seem to be quite highly regarded for ‘real World’ road use.

Nice bike Mark.

Btw,Carl Harrison in Harleston used to be good for Ducati servicing

Fabulous, I think you'll really enjoy that. They have a nice seating position, a bit sporty bit also very comfortable. The red-with-white is lovely.

And yes, on the overrun they bellow wonderfully.

Good that it's had its valves done (shimmed, desmo, beyond me) but people stress too much about the belts which are easy if you follow the process.
I agree. I owned an M600 in the past and changed the belts myself. I used the allen key method to set tensioning which some don’t agree with but it worked!

Yes, me too. Also in a rare departure from my usual Luddite self I used modern tech.

Once fitted I ran the engine up and used my phone to record slo-mo video of them at different engine speeds. You can clearly see whether they are running smoothly and securely.

Very nice. Looks similar to my Monster 1100 Evo which I love. Enjoy (y)

Mark, now that you've had the S2R for a bit, how do you rate it? I'm asking because I've seen a 2006 one for £2650 and I'm tempted!

Brilliant bike, loved the one I had, a very capable bike that is really easy to ride quickly on fast A & B roads. Mine did 46,000 miles fault free in the time I owned it. Toured Europe, trackdays, whatever you choose it will be enjoyable on it. :)

It is a great ride on smooth roads and has a very planted feel. The clutch is really light, which is good as I have some arthritis in my hands. It feels a bit more upright than an older 600M I had several years ago. Plenty of oomph for road use. Basically, they are great value for a Ducati. The MCN review gives them 5*. I am not a big fan of the styling on the newer Monsters but these are quite similar styling to the first Monster, with the addition of the sexy single sided swing arm and Marchesini wheels. If Imwanted to improve it I think my money would go on suspension as it is a bit hard on bumpy roads.

I think this is true of any bike, if they are well used and maintained correctly, then they will indeed run perfectly well for many miles to come.
