Just cancelled order for 1290GT and am going to get the new 2017 model 1290SA instead.

My dealer was having trouble locating a 1290GT despite 'placing an order' 3 months ago,due to KTM's stupid system so I've decided to go for the newly tweeked 2017 SuperAdventure which will have a new screen from the 2016 model and hopefully be available in orange !!

In the meantime I had quick demo on something else today-mine arrives first week of July

Be interesting to see what the new screen is like. For me, the present 1290 screen is not as good as the ktm touring screen I had on my 1190 - disappointing as I had expected it to be much better.
What other tweeks are there going to be on the 2017 version?

screen experience seems very personal on these bikes.

for me, the 1290SA screen was way better than the 1190 Touring screen. when fitted to either bike too.
 
Not wishing to hijack thread but buddy who ride with us to Monaco on a two week old SA with Ktm/touratech panniers suffered a very worrying weave at about 95-100 (ermm mph) to the extent that it was clearly visible from behind and although mate is a very competent rider, he was disinclined to try riding through it.
I'm are some will lecture re. speed but I would appreciate more, any similar experiences and possible cures.
He did try many of the possible permutations of suspension setting act but did not alter tyre (TA2s) pressures.
A quick google found some yank sites that reckon dealers apply a sticker advising against exceeding 150kph if laden.
 
Leisure trail have 2 GT's in there shop, brand spankers and not sold.

I collect mine on Monday from gear4 can't wait to get these on.

Always thought I'd end up with a SuperAdventure despite not being overwhelmed on initial demo when they came out,and wouldn't have wanted both GT and SA,not at those prices.But this way I'll have the MT-10 and SA which will be very different.

Had a little sniff around my local KTM shop - 3 Super Adventures and 1 1190R.... No deals on the 1190R but discounting implied on the SA....I stopped before I got carried away....

Possibly because new SA coming out end of the year.....
 
The mt10 looks great I had a gander at one yesterday and sitting aboard it fitted me very well and I was tempted to buy one they sound great with the crossplane engine, it needs some finishing touches ie rad guards for sure and tail tidy but looks a great bike.

Did you have the optional quickshitter !

Not on demo bike,but I will be ordering it along with Akra and panniers/screen/heated grips etc.

It absolutely growls on OE can so the Akra will be the dogs.So bloody quick-the low down grunt is amazing and I'm comparing it to the likes of GSXR 1000K5 and K1300S that I've owned.

The Route Napoleon beckons again !!!

No better then the OE back end and will just chuck up more shite. The bikes ugly anyway . Why polish a turd ? But just ride one and prepare to be gobsmacked !! And no nasty vibes at 4K !!!

Yep, I too suffered a bad weave on my 1190 when loaded with panniers, reasonably empty topbox and solo. It'd be fine up to 95, then start weaving and by 105 I knew I'd lose control if I tried to push it harder. It felt like a waste of a good autobahn. As an aside, I was coming home earlier this week on the Africa Twin, loaded with panniers out of Dublin in the early hours and was actually thinking about that weave on my KTM. I took the AT up to 110 and it was as stable as a rock. :thumb2
 
Matey had an Explorer and part of him buying the SA over a GS was because 'everyone has a GS'.
Ironic that on the way back after 2000miles of concern/pisstaking, he was heard to say that he might have to try a fully laden Gs to see how that was. My reply that there was one sat right behind him that was behaving impeccably seemed to bring about a change of subject......
The SA is phenomenal without the boxes but it's good to know I can keep up as long as we have panniers on!
