SA Test Ride

How are you finding Craigs ?
I tested a 990 adv 4 years ago, I probably would have bought one from them if they'd actually bothered to ring me back..several times after my calls went unanswered.

I ended up with Craigs after I got the no response treatment from Teasdale (Thirsk).

They did me a good deal, but I think they are more geared to the off road scene than road bikes.

Nothing seems to be proactive and getting the response the steering needed tightening up gives me no faith.

I'm booked into ABW for a health check.

I've got the same steering wobble when decelerating between 60 -30 mph. Had the head bearings checked & tightened & the front wheel re-balanced, but the wobble is still there. As you say, it seems to be a known issue with no reliable cause or fix apparent.
I'm not too bothered about the wobble (unless it becomes worse), but having said that it shouldn't be there, especially on a bike at this price.

had it on my 1190S.

appeared as the tyres wore and went away when i fitted new ones. i don't get it on the big wheels of my R, but some do.

Loads of info on it on adv rider forum! Something to do with the balancing I believe. I was half interested in the super adventure at one point but they have a few issues at the moment front fork cartridges and suspension software updates maybe the 17 model will be better stonking engine though.

I hope so because I was tempted to buy a new GSA but apparently even the black engine bikes are showing corrosion and I really cannot be bothered with the hassle if I'm the unlucky one so I'm going to wait for the new SA I hope it has the same engine and quickshifter as my GT.

How you getting on with the GT ding I saw one today in the flesh really nice. I've had three gs/ gsa no problem with any of them I'm tempted with the GSA triple black but will wait and see i even looked at the mt 10 but decided against it.

I'm on the fence !! It's a great bike and goes like stink, it seems to be at its happiest when your exceeding the speed limits tho so tbh I think this will be its downfall as it will start to tire myself I think, My head is telling me I'm at my happiest riding adventure style bikes they seem more natural to myself with the relaxed position and clocks in direct line of view, I'm off to spain on the GT soon so spending considerable time on the bike will really tell me if it's staying or going. .

With the way you look after your bikes, you won't get corrosion on your GSA. ;)

Is the corrosion sparked by the owners and there cleaning regimes !

I'm pretty anal with my cleaning and both the WC's i owned still looked like new.

I do wonder. I'm the same with my bikes and none of them have had any corrosion anywhere, and I ride all of them all year round.

There are a lot less corrosion issues on the black engines I'm not saying none but nothing like the silver engines I suppose BMW got fed up replacing them. My dealer now gives out cleaning kits with new bikes asking them not to use other brands cleaning products. They have only had one black engine with corrosion it had 23k on it and I don't think it had been cleaned once I saw it.
