I realise I'm getting a little ahead of myself so I apologise about that.
I've decided to go to the German Moto GP next summer and would be grateful for any hints and tips about places to stay nearby and best place to sit at the circuit please.
I'll hopefully be travelling on my own, I like relatively decent accommodation (private bathroom is a must) and covered grandstand with the best possible views.
At this stage the loose plan is to head to Calais on the Monday afternoon for a late crossing into France allowing me Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to meander to the accommodation in time for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the circuit before heading of after the race towards Calais, hopefully to be back home by Monday evening, InshAllah.

I know plenty of you will have been to the circuit so any helpful advice would be very much appreciated please.

TY in advance.

Edit: I should add that Hull - Holland would make much more sense but I won't travel with P&O.

I'm not really much help as I went in 2007.

All I would say is that, if you're a drinker, then it is one sensational, LOUD, piss up - even more so than Jerez or Valencia.

The circuit (grandstands etc) will have changed since 2007 but the layout hasn't. It's for go-karts, so compact. From memory, I would go at the bottom of 'The Omega' or the swoop into T13.

It was the hotest (hottest ?) race of the season in 2007.

I loved it....:thumb2

Edit. 2007. The year when Dani won this particular battle, but Casey won the war.....  .....Wish that I could have another go at living that season.

Sachsenring

Like Jonnie Comet we went about 13yrs ago and camped on the hill opposite the track, great party atmosphere all weekend,
If you get time Colditz Castle is only 40 mile away and well worth a visit if you have time.

Excellent, thank you both.

I'd planned to go to Austria, Misano and then Aragon (all two weeks apart) next year but the provisional calendar for 2023 is now out and Aragon is now the end of May!
That screws up all my plans!!!!

Resurrecting this as I've decided to go this year.
I've researched on-line without joy, does anyone know if any of the grandstands other than the start/finish straight are covered please?

Edit; Also any thoughts as to which company I should purchase tickets from please?

As usual TY in advance Comrades. 👍

From the aerial photographs, it looks like the other grandstands are open to the elements.

I’d use what looks to be the official website:

They give an email address for questions.

We purchased tickets as part of a package from a hotel about 5 miles away who also laid on a minibus Saturday and Sunday. I can’t remember the name of the hotel but the deal was 3 nights accommodation, 2 days minibus, 2 days open admission, bbq Friday and Sunday. I’m pretty sure I found it simply by putting Sachsenring hospitality into Google because it wasn’t one of the big companies that lay on expensive packages all over the World.

I have obtained tickets here but it was a long time ago. I have not done one of their trips but I have got involved with them re tickets, hotels and circuit transfers. I didn't do anything off the web site. I simply rang them, told them what I wanted to do and they sorted tickets/hotels/transfer to suit me. They even did JUST circuit transfers for myself and a mate when we attended the Sepang MotoGP.

Ring them.

We’ve used Pole Position a couple of times and never had any issues with them.

If I was going alone I’d almost certainly book a package because most of them have a meet the group meal on arrival day and you’re not left sitting in a hotel room wondering what to do with yourself.

Thanks again Comrades. I rang Pole Position but it's packages only now which is not what I need.
I'm happiest on my own as I prefer to do my own thing at my own pace.
I just need to decide whether to try to get back from Zwickau to Hook of Holland in one hit on the Monday (don't need to be there until 10PM) or take 2 days to get home via Calais.

I have travelled solo, (my preferred option), and I have been to the east of Germany more than other places that I have toured around although I haven’t been to the Sachsunring. Personally, Harwich-Hook of Holland is my favourite crossing and I would go overnight in both directions and have a night in Germany each way on my way to the circuit and back to the port. There are loads of nice roads that are not boring autobahns.
