Sad day for the Donegal Rally..............

Very sad news indeed

Yeah, bad news, poor sod.
But it is one of the more dangerous of sports, and the rush whilst competing is amazing.
Last week a driver was killed at the Dukeries event in Notts, and considering the number of rallies and competitors, incidents where fatalities occur are still quite rare.
I've been to rallies all over Europe, and the Irish rounds are some of the most spectacular, the craic is superb.
Let's hope the event continues and pleases the masses, I'm sure that is how the dead navigator would of wanted it.

Sad day for Irish Rallying and the sport in general and as Timpo said, only a week after the death of Martyn Lewis on the Dukeries.
Statement issued by the motor club -
Donegal Motor Club deeply regret to confirm that a competitor in the 2010 Donegal International Rally has died following a serious accident.
The competitor was killed when the car he was co-driving in, went off the road during the Knockalla Stage south of Portsalon just after 3pm this afternoon.
A second competitor, the driver of the car, was taken to Letterkenny Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
Rally organisers are in the process of contacting the families of those involved.
Senior officials are returning from the scene to Rally headquarters in Letterkenny where a decision on the remainder of the competition will be made.
A further statement will issue following that meeting.

Just been on the news that the organisers of the rally have posponed tomorrows final day as a mark of respect to the young man (RIP)who died.
He was from County Meath.
Sad end to what was promised as a great weekend of rallying in County Donegal............
