Salisbury Plain/Trail ride/ Plod/ 25th/26th July Invite, all welcome

Ladies & Gentlemen

Time to get those big trailys ready for a weekend down south.

A suggested donation to Julia house Hospice would be very welcome http://www.julias-house.org/
£10 pre rider per day would be nice ( but i understand times are hard so :augie

I arranged a ride out a while ago for the members of the xrv forum, it all went pretty well.

Nothing hectic (tcks + only) early stages of planning for a ride along the longest byways in Blighty.

If you wish you can leave your valuables locked up in one of our support vans ( lets TRY not use them for anything else ok)

Ten mins walk to a very nice pub http://www.vintageinn.co.uk/theoldba...eeleggedcross/ :beerjug: Three Cross Motorcycles + Cresent Suzuki Race team HQ. are also very close if thing go wrong :blast

The First days ride will be on The gentle Dorset/Wilts Lanes ( A FEW PARTS CAN BE A LITTLE CHALLENGING):thumb

Second day will (hopefully) lead up on to the Plain ( around 25 Miles of road riding will be needed




So here goes some simple rules

All the gear please.

3 groups of 10 riders (max) A+B+C) All riders welcome following the TRF conduct Please .

All groups will be a gentle pace, its a trail ride only,

The route will/can only be decided the day before the ride (The Army tend to get in the way on the Plain on some weekends

PLEASE ! Make sure you machine is ready and have the abiltiy to sort out punctures etc ( tools and tubes etc)

Each rider will recieve a PM from me with my Mobile number (just in case of trouble)

I tend to go for a plod Sundays ,I will be doing a recce of the route (map marking) etc to check on the current byway status ( tro restrictions) You are more than welcome :)

Update
Please note , the ride out is on Sat/ Sun ( 25th 26th July )

You will need to book yourself in to the campsite ( do it SOON) Please mention Julia Hospise ride out when booking to keep you all in the same place !

I will meet inmates on Friday evening at 7pm ( to head for the pub 5 min walk away)


Saturday 25th. ( group A 9.30..>> group B 10 am.. > group C 10 .30 am ish )

Leave site to go fuel up

A short road ride to The first gentle Byway , leading on to Sixpenny byway that leads on to the Salisbury Drove.

This lane runs for around 12 miles to the village of Ludwell ( eta around 12. p m )

Leave the Ox Drove ( can be a little difficult in places) Heading for Whitsbury down >

This day should be aroud 80 miles, all pretty gentle.

Head back to the site.. pub aroud 8 pm for :beerjug:

Sunday 26 th : Leave times as before> Heading fo the village of Stapleford then up onto the Plain ( this day will be routed closer to the day )

This day will be around 120 miles , most of which is off road, eta return to the campsite around 6pm.

Gear can be left in the van for collection each evening..

No one will be left behind ( but make sure you have at least AA/ RAC in case of break down)

Please make sure you have water/ hydration It can get vey dusty/ tiring.

Would it be ok to join you on Sunday morning.Dropping the family at the airport in Southampton at 7.00 then back to pick up the bike from Andover.Maybe I could meet you as you get onto the plain? Bike is Husky TE610 and very happy to make the donation to the hospice.

Yes J , we "should" be at the garage @ Stapleford around 10.30 onwards

All the groups will pass along the byway ( Bustard Inn car park) .

That is only if the army decide to have a day off :blast
 
Thanks thats Ideal .I will be at the Bustard Inn and am happy to slot in any group or ride sweeper if it helps.
