Parking for vans / trailors

Hi John

Pls advise on where to park. Hear there is a potential glitch on your bike, hope all pans out OK....

Mike

Full details will appear here nearer the time but start at about 8.30 for a full days ride (back about 4 approx). Start will be in the SN8 4LP area.

Guys

As quite a few of us are trailering down, and personally I am a bit of a wossie, isn't this is a tad early. It'll mean a silly O'clock start for my chauffeur of choice for the day, Dave G.

Can I suggest a RV of 10am, but 10 prompt - unloaded and ready to go.

A solid 6 hours is plenty for me, suspect Martins bike needs an oil change around then anyhow.

Also - If John's bike is terminal, and if Mike (DollyRocket) doesn't want to lead on the Plain then I propose a fall back plan of the Hampshire lanes.

One way or another I am keen for a good days ride....

Mike

Well I'll be there the night before, kipping in camper, somewhere nearby. So 0830 kickoff is fine by me. But happy to go with the flow.

Mike.

Hi chaps, waiting on feedback regarding bike but a good start point is SN8 4lF (note change in postcode). There is a layby there which the two Mikes will know. Alternatively, if I can't make it you might want to change start point to perhaps Burbage where there are a few meeting points.

Hopefully will update Thursday or Friday latest.

Been following this topic for a while. If any of you are looking to park in the Pewsey area there is a free public car park at the back of my Bakery in
Broomcroft road Pewsey SN9 5EX Some of it is covered by my cctv. Its usually quiet on a Sunday.

Either way - I am coming to Wiltshire on Sunday!!!
I will try to lead, i don't know all the lanes that John takes us around as it's not my patch - however, I have the OS maps and we can flesh it out as we go.

John can come on his sit on mower if his bike is not ready. I will talk to John this evening to make arrangements and laybys etc. I have trailer too so wouldn't mind parking in a reasonably safe area.

Dave - Speedking, You got the space if you want it - I'll give you a ring, you will have to pm me your address.

Demon - Is your bakery open on sunday for butties, pasties, gateux and buns?

This all works for me. Will dig out some maps and see if I can get my GPS fitted to the bike in time to assist with route finding.

Having looked on Google Maps / Streetview, parking at Stanton St Bernard, SN8 4LF looks quite limited. Demon Baker's suggestion to use public car park @ Pewsey behind his bakery looks good and spacious, and is only 5 miles away (Broomcroft Rd, Pewsey, SN9 5EX). That is, if we are still starting from that area...

You gonna join us? Sounds like a bit more local knowledge in standby would be good. Are we all agreed on 10 am start?

force4fun is GO GO GO!!

Cam chain and tensioner replaced so collect bike Saturday and ok for Sunday now.

The layby in Stanton (SN8 4LF) will take a few vans/trailers (probably 4-5) so should be ok. DollyRocket was going to park in mine anyway and if we get problems might be able to squeeze in one more.

Can we confirm numbers and how many cars/vans?

Not heard from Dr JM??

Suggest 9.30 for 10 start if that is ok (lazy Mike).

Hope that is ok

Hi John

Pleased to hear all is sorted with your bike.

The lay-by proposed looks quite small and if I park there, will take most of it up which isn't very sociable. So I'll park in Pewsey and ride to the lay-by you propose and see you there 09:30ish for a 10:00 kick off.

Mike.

Sunday

Great news about bike not needing anything too major.

Not heard from Dr JM??

Last I heard Jane (Dr JM) and Martin both on.

I'll be coming down with DaveG with a car & trailer. Can we grab a slot at yours pls....

Tnx, Mike

Looking at Google streetview my van alone will fill up that layby, perhaps its "deceptively spacious" ;-)
I'll park at The barge pub and ride to SN8 4lF, Google suggests its 1.5 miles away. See you for the off at 10am.

Mike I assume you'll have your mobile with you - just in case I need to reach you?

cheers

Parking

Just been to measure said layby!!

There is room for Windchuffers camper plus trailer, and then 2 x cars with trailers (or 3 vans). It is double car width so can take more than it maybe looks.

Dollyrocket/Speedking and Mfredrik/Daveg are parking at mine so should be space I think.

Hope that helps.

ps - if windchuffer wants a bit of extra comfort, there are nearby camper van sites/pubs. let me know
