Set off with Adrian (xbootie) for a day on the Plain after dropping the boy at school. Didnt get off to a great start when he came a cropper after just 1/2 mile to the east of Shewton badly hurting his ankle (could have been worse, could have been me)

Then went to look at a training village

Who needs GPS - oh I do

We then headed for the middle but found some routes blocked and started to meet the military tucked away in the bushes. Gave them all a cheery wave but decided it was best not to start taking photos of em

Ooh lots of blown up tanks, right where are the ones doing the blowing up!

Hiding behind some bushes and sighting the odd fast jet and chopper overhead I have to admit to not having a clue where we where

Upto this point we hadn't seen any Red flags but what happened next was abit un-nerving, we got to a cross rds and had the buggers flying all around us  We opted to head south and then came to this .. whoops

Luckily the guy manning the barrier was a cheery chap who was so bored he was just pleased to see someone for a chat. However when he said "did you not see the big guns" I did feel abit of a chump. He said if he was doing his job he should take our numbers but he couldn't be f*cked and showed us the way to go (don't you wish there was more people like that in the world) :thumb

In to Tidworth for some din dins

We then took a Pikey Dave route which was good and wet

Just up from here we took the Pikey Dave route through the woods but stopped pretty quick when we turned the corner and met blokes lying in the grass with guns looking into the woods, seconds later the firing started  At this point we thought we would demonstrate how to turn a GS around in seconds and get the f*ck out of there (still managing another cheery wave at the guys manning the trucks hidden on the outskirts) always pays to be polite  Again din't think this was a good time to take a photo or two.

Funny how muddy your number plate gets

We then went to the hills and sat up for a while as a chopper came low overhead and landed below us. There was one Landy driving the area and tthey smiled and waved as they passed, we gave them a minute to leave and then went to have just one go.

As we came off we passed the Landy who waved again and we head cross country trying to find the A303  When we where sat at a cross roads in the middle of no where and guessed we had to turn left as the sun was getting lower over there I decided that maybe a ickle Garmin might be a good buy.

Anyway that was our day.
