Jono (Rudiemoto) and myself headed up in his new van with the bikes to Slaidburn today to assault Salter Fell.

What a laugh - a few close shaves - a fair bit of sheet ice and some cracking rock sections.

MikeTR had been up the day before on his 650 Dakar and had warned of the icey bits.

Cheers to Jono and Stevie73 for the off-roading tips today before and during. :thumb2

A few pics we took on Jono's phone. Jono also got some footage on his GoPro, so hopefully get that processed and uploaded at some point....

I'll let Jono explain this one! - Can laugh now but at the time, it was pretty scarey seeing what happened here from 20 feet behind

Quick break on the return back over the Fell, 95% of the way back at this point

'what did the romans ever do for us'? well they made the salter fell road.

great road , it's been a few years since I rode that trail, does it still have the restriction on four wheel vehicles?

Good one fatal :D

There are signs up at each end showing "no car zone".

In terms of motorbikes, it says in words they are permitted, but riders must keep to the track.

Did you manage to get on the other half dozen or so trails around there? There are a few between Longridge & Slaidburn then another near Brock Bottom that you can come around to from the top end of Salter. Makes a great little loop that you could prob do both ways in the summer months.

Nop as i was in pain from flying through the air at 60mpfatman and it was not agood landing

Tell 'em the whole story Jono, especially about the water :eek

..what a trooper though, he was up and ready to ride on in no time :thumb2

We didn't to be honest, but I'd like to try those. And especially Snape Rake Lane.

Anyone have any Sat-Navable points or GPS for the above please?

salter fell

hi guys, i fancy doing a bit of greenlaning can any of you tell me were i can find the local lanes around preston? cheers.:)

Tarry, 3rd pic down in thread #1 (the icy water) is what Jono landed in - the centre of the pic with the broken ice chunks is where his arse met the freezing water.

As it happened I remember thinking "that's gonna hurt" :eek

Jono, did your GoPro get any footage on the day in the end? Can help process the video if you like?

Did jono flying through the air and landing on his arse have anything to do with the recent earthquake felt in the lake district:augie
