Without me contacting both Vines and CW does anyone know if the annual service on an 1150gs or any beemer for that matter cost the same at say Vines and CW or would they vary?
We have in the past used both but dont know which one to go for next time around and was also curious that if we were to have both bikes done at the same time if we would get a special price for the pair perhaps, a bit of discount?

Check your handbook, but if it is only the "annual service" you are looking at,all they do is replace the brake fluid.Hardly worth a long trip to a dealer.
When the bikes are due for the "annual inspection" which is a fair bit of work ask them to do the "annual service" at the same time.
As for comparative costs,i dont know.I would guess they would charge about the same hourly rate, but the number of hours they charge for may very well vary.
You can only ask the question about discounts, charges for loan bikes etc.
Bahnstormer may be another one to ask if you are happy to travel

All they do is replace the brake fluid, I cant believe it !
Been to bahnstormer before, forgotten that one, the distance between all 3 of them is not a problem, I enjoy the ride up, its the blasted ferry that gets me just to get over to your side of the water
I shall make enquiries a bit later on :thumb2

Not sure if the price is different, but if you go to CW's on a nice day, you could ride down to Portland Bill and have lunch at the Pulpit Inn, assuming you get a courtesy bike, of course!

We went to CW last yr for nicks service on his bike and had a courtesy bike, some great places round there, we went for a ride about and lunch, was not a bad day out, just wondered if we were to get both bikes done at same time we would get a special price for the two, mind you, mine is not due until nearer end of the yr whereas nick wants his doing around early May I think so will probably be 2 trips over anyway

Worth mentioning that CW normally give a discount on servicing, and service parts until the end of January. This is a regular winter offer from them.

Regards Bob

Bahnstormer is usually cheaper than Vines, but quite a lot sometimes, and they were offering free courtesy bikes recently.

Try BB in Pompey

Hi Little B

Check out Barry Barbour in Portsmouth 07810 713710.

Ex SPC I think but now works out of his home garage which is cleaner than an operating theatre.

I let him do all my work. He will probably collect from the ferry for you and return when finished - should make your end travel easier.

He has serviced, installed lighting looms and lights, relaced brakes etc etc for me and I can only comment on how easy he made things for me and he takes a pride in doing things properly, not cheaply or quickly.

:clap :thumb2 from me and should make things simple for you.

Steve

Cheers Steve for that, I think Nick mentioned that there are 1 or 2 that do it just over the water from us, I will keep that in mind, :thumb2

Barry Barber

I second that man .
Barry is a top man and his rates are much better as an independent.
For a start he does not have the overheads to support My 1150 was well fettled by him at the last service. Fully trained BMW mechanic He does a collection and delivery service also
