San Diego-Recent feature in ABR ?

I'm off to San Diego next week for work and three of us are hiring bikes (and an HD) and heading up into the hills.

I saw a ride report a few months ago that was something like a 220 mile loop beginning and ending in San Diego.

But I've scoured my mags and can't find the bloody thing.I think it may have been in Adventure Bike Rider but not 100% sure.

Can anybody recall seeing this article ?

Plenty of good roads just north of San Diego Martin but you have to go inland. I've got a buddy who lives in Murietta and there are some decent back roads to the East of the area. The coast road is shite. Get yourself a half decent map and follow the wiggly bits

the loop that was in the bike mag was about 220 miles and do-able in a day.

Yours looks good but would take a weekend I think

Just have to pick a bike !!!

Was going to rent the Bonneville but they only have one and one of my colleagues hasn't ridden for a few years so would prefer that to an HD.

So that leaves this :

If I don't go for the Thruxton,which would be the nicest HD to rent ?

I've rented an Ultra Glide Classic,Fat Boy and Heritage Softail before so was thinking possibly the Streetglide or Road King.

Do they ride similarly and has either one got better ground clearance ?

It was amazing , even on HDs. But Eaglerider take delivery of some new Tiger 800s in Jan which will be perfect so I will have to do it again !!
