No....any vehicle can use the 30 lane....mine all got charged at proper rate.
I respect your experience, but for sure that is not what the Sanef instructions say; which imply that you can use T30 or the automatic t but will be charged at class 1 rate unless you find a manned booth :nenau.
Can you clarify that you can go through T30 on your bike (with a tag) and are AUTOMATICALLY billed at class 5 rate ? I'd be very happy if that's the case.

I can confirm indeed that ALL of my toll transactions went through automatically as class 5. Not all of them were 30 kph lanes, as they don't have them at all peages, but a lot were...none of my transactions were at a manned booth...at all.

Damn, that sucks. Even if it can work in practice. For the Vinci tags motorcycles *can* use them according to Vinci's FAQ. So I guess you pick a tag and take your chances!
I see they also accept payment from non-French bank accounts.

The only lanes Vinci says not to use are the height-limited ones.

Interesting experiences last 2 weeks....wifey and I had one in aquapac, which was duly waved at sensors and worked...even in the 30kph lane! Gulp!

Mate and wife had one...never worked at all!!

Had to take tickets and pay.

For me....a totally stress free and easy way to deal with peages.

As you will know, when you receive the tag, you must register it so to activate it. I wonder if your mate forgot this important stage ?

No...on return, when they, and Sanef, checked the account it had worked once opening the barrier, but not again....bad luck, duff tag I guess, although the point above about the sensors in the road may be relevant...particularly for bikes..

The upshot of this thread is:

(1) The OP's friends' smart tag was duff. It worked once, then failed. They are replacing it. This was the subject of the opening post.

(2) The smart tags seem to work well, detecting the difference between motorbikes, lorries and cars automatically and billing accordingly. Mine certainly does, with frightening reliability.

(3) The tags may - or may not - detect a motorcycle riding through the 'fast track' lanes, where the vehicle does not come to a brief halt before the barrier rises. The jury is out on this one, with differing opinions. Use according to which version of the truth you chose to believe, in an exciting game of Russian roulette.

well I never knew that. :blast
I just assumed that when I used my telepager with my bike I was charged as per car.
Having checked my statements I see the bike are 05 rate and car 01 rate.
Great, now what can I buy with the monie I have saved :clap

I used the same tag and it worked perfectly in all the "t" lanes including the 30kph outside lanes. I travelled down to Biarritz from the Tunnel so was on different Autoroutes run by different companies and it worked perfectly.

Just to clarify I was in a Mini Cabriolet and not on the bike.......

Hardly surprising then that it worked.... and that it billed you as a (sort of) car. It would have been very disappointing otherwise. :D

Well Wapping as I said earlier I am awaiting the DD so don't know what I will be charged.

Great if you find out they've billed the topless Mini as a man's motorbike, less good if they've billed it as a lorry. I'm betting they'll bill it as a girls' car :D

Fair enough if you think I am a girl then you wouldn't mind me sitting on your face. A caveat would be that I am 21st and 6ft 2in. See you soon:bluesn2s
